Charming Maine Farmhouse w/1 full breakfast! Room1
Description
Come stay in my lovely 1870’s home where you’ll feel welcome and comfortable from your very first minute. It’s an old home but has been updated while retaining its old world charm. The eclectic vintage decor will bring you back to a simpler time. Isn’t that what Maine is all about? The room is warm and inviting, outfitted with quality bedding and towels and a new queen mattress. The living spaces are newly furnished. It’s all here for you to enjoy :) Maine… it really is the way life should be! The space This is a farmhouse but no longer a farm. But there is a beautiful garden to enjoy with a farmer’s porch. There is something of interest all about the house. I have a love for 1940’s decor but much of the house is newly furnished and renovated while still maintaining an old farmhouse look. Warm and comfy, you’ll feel right at home! Please note, I do have 3 very loving and friendly cats. This is their home and are not secluded to any one part of the house. The doors to the bedrooms are kept closed so it’s up to you if you want them to come in and get your cat fix :) But don’t be surprised if Slug, Chunks or Puddin’ want to curl up at your feet. They’ll be happy to take all the snuggles you can spare :) Guest access Guests can park right in my driveway, no fee. Winter has an on-street parking ban from Oct.30-April 1 but after that you can park along the road if you want. There are lots of “downtowns” nearby. Somersworth is a short 5 minute walk. Dover is a 15 minute drive and Portsmouth is a 20 min drive. Loads of great restaurants and pubs. A beautiful picturesque town on the water! If you come in summertime, there is LOADS to do! The beach (closest is York, Kittery and Newcastle) But there's also Wells, Ogunquit, Hampton Beach and many others along the coast. You can eat at any of the seaside restaurants or take a it of time to shop at the little boutiques and galleries. Maybe even take a day to shop at the Kittery Outlets and grab some deals! You can go on a whale watch out of Portsmouth, Portland or Newburyport, go to the amusement park at Old Orchard beach (this is one of the oldest seaside parks in the country dating back to 1898! You can walk the pier that juts out into the Atlantic ocean over 500 ft and have the best fried dough and coldest beer on the coast. It's like stepping back in time. Very old-school amusement park. Not overwhelming like the massive ones today. For the more adventurous you can go white water rafting, go on a windjammer cruise, climb Mt Washington or Acadia National Park and go Moose watching, hiking, kayaking or simply relax and enjoy La Dolce Vita! I’m also only 3.5 miles from The Red Barn at Outlook Farm for any wedding attendees! During your stay This room is in my private home. There is also another queen room as well as 2 Twins that may or may not be occupied so the bathrooms are shared. But there are two full baths so that's not ever been an issue. I work a lot here in my home studio doing lampwork glass (small scale glass blowing. I'll even give you a demo or lesson!) On one morning of your choice, you'll get a delicious breakfast of either eggs (any style) and English muffin, toast or possibly my homemade sourdough bread! But most people opt for the most spectacular French toast in the planet with REAL maple syrup and butter! Other things to note Check-in is between 2-4 but if you need a later check in, just let me know :) You MUST provide me with an ETA so I can be here toy let you in and show you to your room. This is a very old home with steep stairs that are not easy to climb with children’s little legs and it is not childproofed in any way. Outlets are not covered, knick knacks on low shelves, uncovered corners of coffee tables etc. Kids are a blessing but this is not the ideal home to stay in with your wee ones :( Please note that I am owned by three well behaved cats (see pics) one of which is a 22 lb Maine Coon named Slug. They are social but sleep most of the time. Never so much that they can’t enjoy attention though :) Please note that just because I don’t specify every single thing that is not allowed, (such as bringing a mountain lion or parking 5 campers on the lawn etc) please don’t assume it is. Simply ask if you are unsure. Thank you!
