Welcome to our secluded cottage get-away with sweeping views of the Bay Area from Oakland to Marin. We designed the space to be the perfect place to unwind after a day exploring the area: quiet, serene, and comfortable. We want you to have everything you need for a quick visit to the area or for a month-long stay. Please read our house rules and this description carefully before emailing a request. We designed our cottage to be a beautiful, comfortable, well-appointed space that takes advantage of the amazing views. To give you the best experience, we tried to think of everything you'll need for your length of stay: basic kitchen necessities for storing, re-heating or preparing simple meals, a comfortable bed to sleep on (with a fold-down futon perfect for kids), clean sheets and towels, and indoor & outdoor dining. You'll have separate access to the cottage through a set of stairs to the right of the garage. There is plenty of street parking with no street cleaning. We don't yet have a divider fence between the cottage yard and the rest of the yard, so please try to stay close to the deck that's in front of the unit. We've both lived in the Bay Area, particularly the East Bay, for more than 15 years and we're more than happy to help while you're staying with us. Don't hesitate to ask us for dining suggestions or places to go or shop. Our home is centrally located for whatever you're visiting for. San Francisco is a short drive (or BART or AC Transit ride) away, as is Napa Valley (50 min), Marin (30 min), Berkeley (15 min) or Oakland (25 min). We're 6 minutes (by car or bike) to El Cerrito Plaza BART station, or if you're feeling up for it, 22 minutes on foot. We're also a short drive to Tilden Regional Park (popular for hiking, running and cycling), Wildcat Canyon, and Pt. Isabel Regional Shoreline. Other popular local spots are El Cerrito Natural Grocery + Prepared Food Annex, Ohlone Greenway (for biking and running), Solano Ave. shops and restaurants, Rialtos Cinemas movie theater, Pacific East Mall, and Gourmet Ghetto in North Berkeley. There's a laundromat that's less than a mile away and we have rolling cart that you can use to transport your clothes. If you're into to coffee, my favorite spots are Hal's Office and Highwire Roasters (located in Flowerland Nursery) in Albany, Allegro Coffee Roasters (in Whole Foods on Gilman), and Artis Coffee (on Berkeley 4th Street). Drive, bike or hope on BART! We make ourselves available to check in guests personally. We just believe in putting faces to names and extending a smile and a "hello". Please communicate with us leading up to your check-in day to coordinate a time that works for both of us!
