Description

Come and unwind away from it all in our ‘Home’ away from home. This unique retreat tucked up a secluded track, is a stone’s throw from the beach. The area offers beautiful walks and with a pizza oven, fire pit and cosy wood burner you won’t need to get in your car to enjoy your break on the Norfolk coast. This is an open-plan space. The accommodation is suitable for lone guests, couples or families with a maximum of two children. Due to new pricing the price you see is the price you pay. The space The main space The main living space is open plan with a super comfy Kingsize bed and 100% cotton sheets. The sofa pulls out to a double bed to cater for families with small children. There is a compact (who needs a huge TV when you’re on the coast?) flat screen smart TV. A small selection of games, puzzles and books is provided for quiet moments/rainy days. The fold down table and stackable stools can seat 4 for meals but can be stored away to create additional space. Do let us know if you would prefer chairs with backs and we can provide wooden folding chairs instead. Tucked around the corner you can find a kitchenette complete with reclaimed stone sink, and cheery yellow kettle and toaster plus enamel crockery so that you don’t have to worry about breakages. *Please be aware that all cooking facilities apart from the toaster are located outside the main accommodation*. The wood burner and fairy lights provide a cosy and magical glow on cold, dark evenings. Please note that the wood burner can not be used whilst the sofa bed is pulled out as this would create a fire hazard. The bathroom There is a separate bathroom with toilet, reclaimed sink and large walk-in shower. The whole of the inside space benefits from underfloor heating which we can turn on prior to your arrival. All curtains and blinds are black-out lined to aid a good night’s sleep. The outdoor space There is a small cobbled area outside the door with the main private outdoor space being accessed via 5 steps. Please note that there is no handrail on these steps so they are not suitable for those with mobility issues or young children without supervision. There is a large wood-fired pizza oven perfect for making your own stone-baked pizzas or fire baked potatoes. The dug-out fire-pit is perfect for toasting marshmallows or simply cover with the metal barbeque grill and your choice of barbeque delights to cook up a storm. The patio is spacious enough to easily accommodate the table and four chairs provided. For those with small children the quirky water butt and reclaimed metal bucket sink can keep them busy on hot days. In the evenings you can snuggle up by the fire, wrapped in one of the cosy blankets provided with a glass of wine in your hand and look up at the beautiful stars or for those with little ones to worry about you can watch them sleeping peacefully (fingers crossed) snug indoors. The outdoor kitchen Inside the outdoor kitchen there are all the utensils you could possibly need (let us know if we’ve missed anything). There is a fridge freezer for all your essentials and a microwave oven for last minute hot food plus a large food preparation area. Please kindly note that the dug-out fire pit has a cover for when not in use but as with the pizza oven and wood burning stove all must be used with care and children must be supervised at all times. All amenities are there to be enjoyed at your own risk and in line with safe usage. Guest access You will have the whole annex space and private outside area to enjoy plus the adjoining public tracks leading onto beautiful footpaths. Access to the property is via a 400-metre unmade track off the main road onto a shared gravel drive with your own parking space alongside the guest house. The whole of the indoor space is on one level and a small cobbled outside area however the main outside space is up 5 steps so is not suitable for those with mobility issues. Please kindly note that one of the guest house’s great benefits is it’s position up a track, away from the road but this does mean that it is inaccessible to very large vehicles. In addition, the lane can become beautifully green and overgrown in the spring and summer months so we do not advise driving up it if you are at all worried about your vehicle’s paintwork as you do so entirely at your own risk. There is an area for parking cars at the bottom of the lane or paid parking at the beach a 10 minute walk away. Other things to note Around the Area East Runton is a charming North Norfolk Seaside village with a blue flag beach, two small greens with duck ponds, children’s play area, Greek restaurant, fish and chip shop, bar and grill, village pub and village store. There are beautiful walks along the cliff top, East to Cromer and West to West Runton and then Sheringham or up onto Incleborough Hill and woods. Cromer is only a ½ hr walk or 5-minute drive away to the East, with parking throughout the town or at the two main carparks at Meadow Road or Cadogan Road. Sheringham is a ten-minute drive in the opposite direction. Both are quintessential Norfolk coastal towns with a whole host of independent gift boutiques, cafes, fish and chip shops, ice-cream parlours, arcades, pubs and restaurants. Cromer is famous for its tasty crab and offers a wildlife park (Amazona Zoo), pottery painting café (Sticky Earth), cinema (Merlin), miniature golf (CrabStix) and Museum. Sheringham boasts a newly refurbished swimming pool complete with splash zone (The Reef), its own museum (The Mo) and the charming vintage steam train. On the way from the lodgings to Sheringham you can find The Priory Maze and Hillside Animal Sanctuary. For those who love their Magnificent Halls or beautiful walks we are fortunate to be within ½ hrs drive of four National Trust properties including the spectacular Blickling and Felbrigg Halls, Sheringham Park which is famous for it’s Rhododendrons and the tranquil walks on West Runton Heath. Golf lovers will be in heaven with amazing cliff top golf courses at Cromer and Sheringham and a Links Course at West Runton we really are spoilt for choice. If you’re here for a longer stay and fancy a day out then our location makes us the perfect place to head out to a whole range of incredible destinations to suit all tastes including but not limited to • The beautiful city of Norwich with amazing restaurants and shops, the Medieval castle and two incredible Cathedrals • Pensthorpe Wildlife Garden • Holkham Estate with its amazing play area • The Broads at Wroxham where you can rent boats to explore further • Roar Dinosaur Park • Bewilderwood for kid’s fun in the trees • Blakeney for crabbing and mud-sliding • Wells next the Sea • Great Yarmouth for arcades and rides galore plus the Time and Tide Museum • Pleasurewood Hills for thrill seekers The accommodation is attached to our property so we are often on hand if you have any questions.
