Cosy Thatch Cottage, with garden. Beach & Forest
Description
Picture postcard Grade II listed thatched cottage - in Daily Mail's "6 Cosiest Cottages". Downstairs, a good sized sitting/dining room (low beamed) and hand made pine galley kitchen with shower leading off. Upstairs, a light & airy double bedroom with ensuite toilet. Attractive traditional cottage garden to enjoy morning coffee or drinks after a relaxing walk to the beach via Chewton Bunny reserve, towards Barton or Mudeford Quay & Avon beach. Our favourite is Highcliffe Castle’s sandy beach. The space Little Meggs is a 17th Century detached cottage and one of the oldest buildings in the Chewton Common Conservation Area. With low beams and cob walls, this Grade II listed property is a beautiful thatched tiny home, providing a secluded sanctuary nestled within mature gardens, perfectly situated for a relaxing and quiet break close to the sea, the beach and the New Forest. The ground floor is accessed from the over hanging thatched porch and a step down takes you into the living area. A large dining table and chairs sits next to the garden window over looking the rose bed. The good sized sitting area accommodates a comfortable sofa and an arm chair, with book shelf, TV/DVD and storage cabinet. Two steps up from here takes you into the kitchen. This cosy kitchen space with handmade pine kitchen units and work tops is a classic galley cottage kitchen, suitable for a short break. The shower is situated at the end of the kitchen. The first floor bedroom and WC are accessed via the staircase. The whole of the upstairs accommodates a light & airy double bedroom with ensuite toilet. Storage cupboards are found in the eaves together with a hanging area. A lovely large window seat overlooks the gardens and is a quiet spot from where to watch the birds and squirrels. Outside, you have a dedicated patio area for use in the winter and a large lawned area surrounded by mature flower beds and trees to enjoy in the summer months. The covered porch area also provides a cosy spot out to hop in out of the rain. *Please take care of the low beams, sloping ceilings and narrow staircase, the gravel paths and uneven patio areas. Whilst they are a part of the cottage’s character, they might not be suitable for everyone.* Guests are welcome to bring a small pet, but please note that the garden, patio and shared driveway are not enclosed. Little Meggs is located in Highcliffe on Sea and within walking distance via the Chewton Bunny or High Street, to the sandy beach and cliff top. You can enjoy long beach walk in the direction of Hurst Spit or turn west along the walkway towards Mudeford whilst taking in the spectacular views of The Isle of Wight and its iconic chalk Needles. One of our favourite evening spots (a 5 minute drive away), is the sandy beach below Highcliffe Castle. The quiet walks and sightings of the ponies of the New Forest are a short drive away and so you are in an ideal place to explore the coast and the Forest. Guest access The detached cottage sits within the gardens of the larger thatched cottage but is very quiet and private with dedicated garden and patio areas.
