Amazing chalet with beautiful view
Description
Beautiful chalet nestled in an enchanting setting. Located in a clearing with only two other chalets — usually unoccupied — behind ours, you’ll find here your own peaceful haven. Yet, in less than five minutes, you can reach Grächen (ranked the #1 family resort in Europe), while also being close to Zermatt and Saas Fee. With 4 bedrooms and the option to split it into two separate apartments, our family chalet offers something for everyone. The space Upstairs, you’ll find a cozy living room where you can relax with family or friends, either by the fire or while watching a movie. The space opens onto a lovely balcony with a large table and a small electric barbecue — perfect for enjoying the view while dining or simply unwinding. The chalet was recently fully renovated: new kitchen, new upstairs bathroom, parquet flooring throughout, and upgraded furniture. The upper floor includes one bedroom with a double bed, one with bunk beds, a bathroom with a bathtub, a kitchen, and a dining area for 8 people. Downstairs, you’ll also have access to a terrace where you can eat outside, a bedroom with two single beds (which can be pushed together), a living room with a sofa bed (the TV supports Apple TV or DVDs from upstairs), a bathroom with a shower, and a second kitchen. You’ll also enjoy a large garden — perfect for kids… and grown-ups! I generally don’t accept weekend-only bookings, as they make it hard to rent out the week before and after. However, it may be possible on short notice, or if it fits well between other bookings. Feel free to contact me to check. I haven’t created separate listings for each floor yet, but for groups of up to 4 people, it’s possible (and cheaper) to rent just one level. Guest access The chalet is located on the road to Gasenried. From a parking area that can accommodate several cars (blue zone or 3 CHF/day), it’s just a short walk through the forest to reach the clearing where our chalet stands. Please note that this forest path is quite steep and can be slippery a few days per year, especially when there’s no fresh snow and the sun is out. That said, it’s not a problem for 99% of visitors — my grandfather walked it easily at age 85, and our neighbor still does at 89! You can usually drive up to the house in summer without any issue, and even in winter if you have a 4x4. The chalet is also accessible by bus: there’s a stop 200m away, and another one with more frequent service about 700m away. Other things to note I speak both French and English. This is our family chalet – I’m the third generation to enjoy it – so you may find a few personal belongings here and there. Built by my grandfather in 1973, the chalet is old but in very good condition overall, and has recently been renovated to improve comfort (new kitchen, updated bathroom, new flooring and furniture). We have a dog and are happy to welcome pets, provided they are clean. We kindly ask that you ensure they don’t create any extra cleaning work, so we can keep offering this flexibility to future guests. We also have a young daughter, so baby-friendly equipment is available: crib, high chair, bottle warmer, etc. Since Covid, the cleaning company we used has shut down. For now, we do the cleaning ourselves before leaving, which can be a bit tricky when also looking after a child. All key areas (bathroom, kitchen, floors, etc.) are of course properly cleaned, but some minor details might not be perfect – especially if we’re expecting to return ourselves afterwards. The tourist tax is not included in the price. It is 3.80 CHF per adult per night and 1.90 CHF per child (6 to 16 years old). Free for children under 6. It will be requested separately after your booking, via Airbnb. An EV charging station will be installed in front of the chalet in fall 2025. It will only be accessible if you can drive up to the chalet (a 4x4 is essential when there is snow, and helpful the rest of the year; otherwise, parking is available 100 m below). Please note: the roof will be replaced very soon. It’s generally in good shape, but in rare cases – particularly during heavy snowmelt – a small amount of water may seep into one of the bedroom walls. This is very occasional, happened like 5 times in 4 years.
