The space Kauri Lodge is located at the end of the three cabins, alongside Kaipara and Kapia Lodges on the property. With 25 meters of separation, privacy screens, plants, and individual access to each lodge, we ensure privacy and noise segregation for a peaceful stay. This luxury lodge offers all the comforts you need for an unforgettable getaway. Relax, sip wine, and take in the stunning views. For those seeking adventure, enjoy a horseback ride along the rugged west coast, explore the Pouto sand dunes, hike to New Zealand's oldest wooden lighthouse (a 14km return beach trek), or test your fishing skills in the famous Kaipara Harbour. Guest access Pouto Point is located on the West coast of the Kaipara District. Depending where you come from, generally you will take state highway 12 or 14 to Dargaville, then head south for 50 minutes to Pouto. The final 10km of road to Pouto Point is gravel and in some locations single lane, please drive safely! Other things to note Please note: Kawasaki bikes are no longer available for bookings made after 08/06/24. We’re pet-friendly, so feel free to bring your furry companions along to explore this outdoor haven! If your preferred dates are unavailable, consider booking one of our other beautiful lodges: Kaipara Lodge or Kapia Lodge. As an adults-only destination, our lodges are designed with couples in mind, offering the perfect setting for a romantic getaway.
