Don't confuse secluded with or inconvenient; Wildflower Retreat is located a 13 min. drive from Troy, AL home to Troy University with its many activities. Wildflower is sometimes labeled as the entire house because it has a private entrance, private en-suite sitting and dining area and en-suite bathroom. It is not the entire house but it is the entire southwest wing of the home. The Wildflower Retreat is a part of a 6200 square foot Victorian Era home built in 1912; the same year the Titanic sank. It is nestled in the country with an exquisite view of a 9 acre pond. Wildflower Retreat has a handicapped accessible private entrance off an amazing wrap-around porch that leads to an approximately 411 sq. ft. studio. This alluring space offers a king bed and 2 recliners, twin chair , microwave, Keurig coffee maker and refrigerator. Nestled in the cubbies below the coffee pot you will find coffee, creamer, and mugs to start your morning off right. Silverware, dish washing liquid, and paper towels are also provided. The spacious bathroom has a garden SOAKING tub for your enjoyment. (jets do NOT work) Enjoy a game of chess or checkers as you lounge in the delightful space throughout the day. The inside also offers 2 comfy recliner where you can watch TV or surf the net on free Wi-Fi. Additional sleeping on the comfy double chair makes the space great for families! A few Games are provided outside so the guest can get the full effect of the wonderful spacious shared yard. The vast porches afford the opportunity to gaze at the sparkling pond while swinging or rocking the day away; all while listening to the songbirds . Along with pond gazing you could enjoy a picnic on the porch at the patio table. Bring your board games an engage in a little competition under the shade of the immense porch! In the evenings the night sky is remarkable. Imagine no city lights and the stars and moon reflecting into the pond. All of this for you to enjoy at Wildflower Retreat. Dining is only minutes away. The Old Barn Restaurant is just up the hill from This Old House. It is open from 4 pm to 8 pm Thursday - Saturday. They serve home grown veggies and country homemade cooking on Sundays from 11am - 2pm. We want you to experience this unique restaurant that is a 100+ year old converted mule barn. The Old Barn has won the award for Alabama’s Best Steak and the best Catfish Award for Alabama. Goshen (only a five minute drive from This Old House) is home to the Eagle's Nest. The famous Old Barn Restaurant is within walking distance of this magnificent Retreat space. It has won best Alabama steak and best catfish awards. Opened Thursday-Sat evenings from 4 pm to 8 pm and for country veggies on SUN. FROM 11-2. Only minutes away is Downtown Troy that is home to Sips Beer Garden where you can enjoy an outdoor dining experience from The Pizza Box and other food trucks all while having a cold adult beverage; along with other dining such as B. Graves., The Market, and Mama Goldberg's.
