This is cottage is unsuitable for anyone with mobility issues. The Twig is a tiny, comfortable 480' cottage on an artist's property on Lake Bellaire. Living room/kitchen down, bedroom/bath up. Sofa bed in living room. Very private and an easy 5-minute walk to the lake. The cottage, again, is tiny, and best suited for a single person, a couple, or a couple with children. Two couples might find it awkward. There is a two-night minimum stay. The Twig is very quiet, with art work and vintage influences everywhere. It is near the owner's home, pottery studio, and a second Airbnb cottage. Other artists often stay with the owner between shows and some have even set up small working studios to use while they are there. This place isn't for everyone; there’s no television or WiFi, although some internet service is available if you use a hotspot (the owners are in the same boat) but there are plenty of books to read and places to visit in nearby Bellaire (5 miles) and Traverse City and Charlevoix, each about 35 miles away. The cottage is furnished with sheets, towels and general kitchen ameneties, and what is not available can usually be supplied by the host. Guests have access to a private beach on Lake Bellaire, a 5-minute walk away across the family property. Swimming is great and the beach is perfect. There are a few off-limit areas on the 300-acre property but those will be mentioned when the guests arrive. I work in my studio during the week and am usually around. I'm also sometimes away at art fairs on weekends (usually only on Saturdays) but someone will always be there to greet guests and show them the ropes. Everything will be done to make sure that guests are made to feel welcome and comfortable. This is a resort area during the summer and there are plenty of great things to do. Torch Lake is just minutes away, with Dockside Bar and Restaurant the closest place to eat at the juncture of Clam River and Torch Lake. Bellaire, with Short's Brewery(a family place) and other local restaurants, is 5 miles away. In addition to Lake Bellaire, Clam Lake and Torch Lake are just a few miles away by car, or can be reached by boat by going from Lake Bellaire to Clam River, which connects the other two lakes. It's a beautiful trip that takes about an hour. Charlevoix and Traverse City are each about 35 miles away and their list of attractions is endless. The Twig is perfect as a get-away. Guests can enjoy the place, the peace, and the lake, or use it as a home base for visits to other great places nearby. 6% sales tax has been added to the rate.
