Swallow Barn is a real gem of a place to stay. Nestled in the village of Monyash & just a few moment's drive from Bakewell, it's perfect family-friendly holiday accommodation in the Peak District Featuring 5 double bedrooms a beautiful open plan kitchen diner & a lovely sitting room with an Inglenook fireplace it's a truly beautiful home for spending time relaxing with family & friends. Dog Friendly, we charge an additional £30 per dog for the duration of your stay and can accept 2 dogs The space Swallow Barn is a beautiful Derbyshire limestone barn conversion and stands on Church Street in Monyash, one of the Peak Districts prettiest villages. This thoughtfully planned out barn conversion has been done sympathetically but with style and comfort in mind. Swallow Barn offers the following home comforts: 5 individually styled double bedrooms (1 on the ground floor) and 4 of which can be double or twin as requested. 3 bedrooms have private en suite bath or shower rooms and there is a further shared 'jack and jill' ensuite bathroom that sits between bedroom 3 & 4. Bedroom 2 has an additional set of bunk beds so makes a great family room. Bedroom 1 is located on the ground floor and is a compact room with fixed double bed and limited storage - providing a small hanging space only. The room has character features which does include a slight stone overhang windowsill near to the head of the bed. Downstairs is a spacious open plan kitchen diner which is the real heart of the home. A beautiful farmhouse style fully equipped kitchen with a Rangemaster Double oven with 5 gas ring hobs, warming zone and grill an integrated microwave and grill, American style fridge freezer and dishwasher. Expect lots of cutlery, crockery, utensils and glassware so you can cook to your heart's content. The farmhouse table seats 10 and there is additional seating at the breakfast bar for two. The room enjoys lots of light from the double French doors which open out onto the landscaped garden. Across from the breakfast bar is more plush seating and a great place to relax with a glass of wine while the chefs are cooking in the kitchen. Moving from the kitchen diner past the impressive wooden stairs is a lovely sitting room that has a beautiful Inglenook fireplace. In here you will find a Smart TV and DVD player, board games, a piano and lots of comfy seating and stylish touches. French doors lead out onto the lawned gardens. There is a door through to the snug where you can find a staircase up to the first floor Outside you have access to a lovely sheltered garden with pretty borders that bloom from spring and lots of seasonal flowers. Adjacent to the lawn is a gravelled patio offering privacy and a wonderful external dining space with outdoor seating and a BBQ (available for use from 01st April through to 31st October, please supply your own charcoal and lighting equipment). Guest access Guests have access to the whole property and there is plenty of free on street parking outside the property and further along in Monyash village. Please do not park around the back of the property as this is the only access for the Farm behind. All parking for the cottage is directly in front of the cottage. Monyash is a pretty Derbyshire village and has a lovely central square where you will find a great family friendly pub - The Bulls Head, a lovely little rustic cafe famous for its breakfast and featured in the Top 50 Breakfasts Book in the country. Open year-round – walkers and bikers welcome. Also serves lunch daily with dinner on certain days. From the doorstep, you are a two minute walk to the start of the world famous Lathkill Dale Nature Reserve. If you love walking this is one not to miss. The river Lathkill rises just below Monyash and flows down to meet the River Wye just below Haddon Hall A walk to the outskirts of Monyash towards Hurdlow and you will come across the amazing Tagg Lane Dairy. You must sample their incredible ice cream, grab a coffee or cake or just pop in for some Jersey milk from the vending machine. While you are over here why not hop across the A515 and head to one of the best pubs in the Peak District - The Royal Oak at Hurdlow. We promise you won't be disappointed. Cycling around the country lanes is a real treat too with wonderful scenery to enjoy. Within a couple of miles, you can join The Tissington Trail or the High Peak Trail, hire bikes at Parsley Hay and bike all the way to Ashbourne. A great way to enjoy many sites of the Peak District National Park. Alternatively head to Bakewell and hop on The Monsal Trail and make sure to take in the views from Monsal Head There are lots of charming market towns and pretty Peak District villages aplenty. The famous spa town of Buxton and the market town of Bakewell are both just a short 10 minute drive. Dovedale, Chatsworth House, Tissington and Haddon Hall are all within an easy drive as is Alton towers Resort which is within a 35 minute drive too Other things to note You Should Know: There are no shops in the village the nearest supermarkets are 10 minutes away in Bakewell or Buxton. Swallow Barn is a perfect property for families and mixed groups who are looking for a relaxing stay in the Peak District with plenty of choice of country pursuits but are not looking for a party venue. Please note that we are dog friendly at this property however dogs must be kept under control at all times. For your information, a maximum of two dogs are allowed on site if pre-arranged - they are welcome in the kitchen and entrance hall/boot room, you will be expected to keep them out of the bedrooms and off the soft furnishings. We do charge £30 per dog for the duration of your stay. Please see our dog policy for further details. For the comfort of all guests, outdoor shoes are not generally worn on the carpeted area of the house so don’t forget your slippers! Noise Policy - due to the quiet village location, late-night noise must be confined to inside the building by 10 pm as neighbours are in close proximity. No fireworks or Chinese Lanterns due to livestock nearby Wifi – we provide free wifi however as the Peak District is in a beautiful rural location sometimes there can be intermittent wifi signal that is beyond our control, we also hope you appreciate that we cannot guarantee wifi if there are technical issues out of our control. Parking is on-street only outside the property but is free and plenty of it. Please let us know how you would like your beds made up. Some beds can be arranged as twins (details in the listing description) but only if requested at least 7 days in advance. If we do not receive any bedroom requests all beds will automatically be set up as doubles where applicable. Unfortunately, we are unable to assist with late requests, especially upon check-in. If the booking is made within a 7 day period of your arrival date, all beds will automatically be set up as doubles. Please bring your own cot bed linen as this is not provided
