Bankside Cottage @ The Manor Mill near Exmoor

Bankside Cottage is a delightful cosy cottage nestled in the beautiful hills of Somerset, on the south side of a wooded valley beside the River Tone. Nearly 200 years old, this lovely cottage has been newly updated to create a charming, well-equipped holiday home. The shared grounds are a paradise of fields, water meadows and gardens, a haven for wildlife, and star-gazing in our dark skies. Our heated indoor swimming pool and play area are shared between our cottages and offer fun for everyone. The space Bankside Cottage is the ground floor of a converted barn, once the original grain store for the mill. You will enter through a useful porch area into a new open plan living room which has a kitchen with dining area and a comfortable sitting space. Bedroom 1 has a super-king size bed and Bedroom 2 has a zip-link bed which can be two small, 2ft 6in, beds or a king size bed. Please note Bedroom 2 is very small and it is a bit of a squeeze to use the wardrobe. You can see this in the photos. The bedrooms are not big enough to fit a travel cot. Bankside Cottage is south facing with river and garden views and a small outside private eating area. Guests are welcome to take advantage of the rest of the beautiful grounds and river banks. Guest access Guests will need a car and there is a guest car park behind the cottages. You can drive down to the front of the cottage to unload your car, but we do ask guests to park in the car park. As the cottage is in a valley there are steps up and down to the parking area. Other things to note As it is a very old building you can sometimes hear footsteps from the cottage above. Please note, Bankside Cottage is in a valley. There are steps to access the car park and the swimming pool. We usually only accept bookings of 6 nights or more during the school holidays but we sometimes have gaps so if you would like a shorter stay please enquire.
