The area is well known for its relaxed atmosphere, its bars and restaurants offering perfect sea view and its beaches with crystal clear water. Welcome to paradise! The space This wooden house is more than a house, it is a "home away from home". No matter how long our guests stay with us, they can easily feel the positive vibes of the 27m2 property. Surrounded by a beautiful garden, one can relax enjoying a cup of coffee, breakfast, or just sunbathing on the deckchair. Guest access Our guests are welcomed to enjoy all garden facilities. Also, feel free to taste fruits and vegetables our nearby property has to offer, depending on the season and on availability. Ask us about our in-house tailor made food and wine tasting experience! Other things to note Welcome to our studio, we are more than happy to host you! I am Efi, your host, and I am looking forward to offering you the best greek hospitality experience you could ever have! I have been living in Greece most of my life and I would be happy to introduce you to our culture. No matter if you stay with us just for a day or for weeks, you are entering a comfortable and welcoming home, where you can easily find everything you may need – including information. Useful information about Porto-Rafti Porto Rafti is a beautiful gulf in the Mediterranean Sea. Historically, there are indications that the area has been inhabited for several thousand years. It was an important center and port in antiquity, and it is thought that from here the ships of the Athenians headed for the islands. Nowadays, the area is supposed to be a get-away to tranquility and quality of life, a breath from Athens. The beautiful coastal town of Porto Rafti is primarily populated with summer apartments and homes of Athenians. Consequently it lacks the commercialization that has beset most of the islands. We consider this a benefit as you will experience a native experience and not the tourist traps of the islands. Porto Rafti and the region around has much to offer. Visit its beaches, ancient sites, monasteries, museums and vineyards. Drink its wines, taste its delicious tomatoes, and eat your heart out at a water front taverna. Places of high interest Ancient temple of Artemis, Vravrona Situated around ten minutes by car from our property. The temple is dating to the late 6th century BC and was dedicated to ancient goddess Artemis, who was the protector of hunters. The museum contains over 1500 artefacts recovered from the site, which remains open daily from 8:30am to 3pm and was recently renovated. Cape Sounio, ancient temple of Poseidon Around 40 minutes by car from the property. It was erected in the middle of the 5th century BC and built to honour Poseidon, god of the sea. Best time to visit is during sunset, the view is breathtaking! Opening hours: 9:30 until sunset. Last entry: 20 minutes before sunset time. Saint Athanasius Orthodox Monastery Around 15 minutes by car from the property. Built at 1990, within the magnificent forest of Kouvaras. Historical center of Athens Around 40 minutes drive from our property, although it is highly recommended to use the metro instead (traffic in Athens can be a big nightmare!). Definitely visit the Acropolis, the Acropolis museum and the area all around called Plaka. Private daily cruise around nearby islands Definitely a must-do! An experienced skipper will take you on a daily cruise with his 12-meter sailing boat around small islands near the gulf of Porto Rafti till Evia island. This tour is available from May till October and the sailboat can host up to six pax. Massage!! Treat yourself like royalty, you deserve it! Relax and enjoy a complimentary 5% discount only for our guests. Contact us for more information! Personally me or a member of our family is always available in case you have any questions about the recommended tours or anything else you have in mind. Also, transportation service is available 24/7 to and from all places of high interest. Contact us! Property information Porto Rafti is a peaceful village, away from big city’s madness, without any safety issues. You can walk around even in the middle of the night feeling totally safe. I handed you two keys, one for the main entrance of our studio and another one for the garden gate. We prefer if you lock the garden gate, not for safety reasons, but sometimes the gate opens with the wind and stray dogs (unfortunately we have so many…) are running in and destroy the garden. Our wooden studio is perfectly insulated so you cannot hear a sound from the outside and also no heat or cold will bother you. You are free to use the air-conditioning system as often as you wish, but please don’t turn it on in case you won’t stay inside, both for economical and ecological reasons. The remote control is usually on the table or desk. 2 supermarkets are near our property, only three-minutes walk. Pharmacy is also steps away and the nearest gas station is around one minute drive. Smoking is allowed only outdoors. Please don’t use your shoes inside the property, as we are trying to protect the wood as much as possible and also for hygiene reasons. We provide you with slippers (you will find them inside the bathroom), in case you are feeling uncomfortable walking barefoot. Hot water is always available in the shower, there is nothing you need to do. In the bathroom you will also find shampoo, shower gel and other amenities. In case you run out of something during your stay, please feel free to let me know. Please don’t throw anything in the toilet, not even toilet paper. Pipes will probably get clogged and a plumber should come to restore everything. You are free to use all amenities in the kitchen. Coffee, tea, bread, butter, marmalade are always provided for our guests as a small breakfast, in order to start your day smoothly. You will find everything in the kitchen area. Water in our area is drinkable. Please use the recycling bin for everything that can be recycled. We also provide cooking lessons, in case you would like to learn more about our greek food culture. Pastitsio, moussaka, tzatziki, genuine greek salad are waiting for you!! We use only high quality first ingredients as we would do for our family. Please let me know in case you have any food allergies. Apart from our cooking lessons, we also provide wine and olive oil experience. A selection of two different extra virgin olive oils and three different local wines with a selection of greek meze will indulge your senses… Please feel free to contact me for more details! You can also rent a bike (we provide them for a small cost for our guests) in case you would like to explore more wonderful Porto Rafti! I will make sure that you will enjoy your stay. Please feel free to contact me, I would be happy to give you tips about Porto Rafti’s restaurants, nighlife, must-sees and dos. Relax and have as much fun as possible, you deserve it after all!
