Children (and the young at heart) can spend many happy hours playing in the wood, pooh sticks from the bridge, swings, football or cricket on the village green, feeding the ducks and chickens. Guests enjoy feeding our puddle ducks and watching their comical antics on the stream, or just relax with a book or a drink and watch the world go by in the public seating by the stream. Guest access The whole cottage and garden is of course for guests booking the cottage, the riverside in front of the cottage is public ground, but fairly quiet . A nice place to sit with a drink or just chill out and watch the world go by. The separate utility room where the washing machine and tumble drier are located is shared with guests from our other cottages and is a minute from the cottage. Other things to note Please note, no noisy groups/parties allowed - we have other cottages and neighbours nearby and it's a quiet village. We accept one dog provided you follow our doggy rules: the dog is a clean when entering the cottage, preferably sleeps in a cage or you bring its bed. The dog is not allowed on the furniture or upstairs and must not be left in the cottage alone and must get on well with other dogs and be on a lead when outside the property due to our free range ducks and chickens and other guests' dogs. We advise bringing old cloths or blankets to clean the dog before entering the cottage. If you have any queries about this, please feel free to ask. If you would like to bring a pet other than a dog, please enquire with us before booking. We provide an initial supply of wood free of charge then we have a charge per extra basket or bag. Additional heating included via storage heaters and electric heaters. Towels and sheets provided. Initial toilet rolls provided. There is a laundry room with washing machines and dryers shared with the other guests for a small additional charge about a minute from the cottage. No shop in the village - Many guests order an online shop to be delivered from Tesco, Sainsburys or Asda or click and collect available from Booths in Keswick. In Cockermouth, 15-20 mins drive, there is a Sainsburys, Aldi and Lidl. In Keswick, there is Booths (like Waitrose of the North!) and a medium-sized Co-op. Since only the final 1/4 mile of the journey is on a country lane, the rest being main roads, we're easy to access even in winter months. Charging of electric vehicles from the cottage is not allowed.
