Description
This space is a ground floor, garden flat underneath our Federation house (with its own private entrance) just a short walk to great restaurants, bars, cafes, markets, parks and an independent cinema. The space The apartment has whitewashed sandstone and timber feature walls, carpet and baltic floorboards, up-cycled furnishings and artwork by contemporary Tasmanian artists (including Matt.) The lounge has two comfy couches (one folds out to a double sofa bed with an inner-spring mattress), a smart telly, wifi, books and games and a desk. A heat pump keeps it toasty and there's also a cute little wood heater for extra ambience! We’ve equipped the kitchen with a microwave, toaster, kettle, convection oven, gas cooktop, a standard-sized fridge and basic supplies. The local cafes do awesome breakfasts but we do provide you with some things to get you started, such as real coffee, a selection of teas, milk, a small loaf of bread, muesli, yoghurt and jams. The bathroom is a cosy space with a walk-in shower, loo, lovely deep bath and two handbasins. We supply towels, bathroom toiletries and a hairdryer. Please note that the ceiling is quite low so if you’re say 6’2’’ you might find it a bit tricky! Sleeping facilities include a double bed in the separate bedroom and a double sofa bed in the lounge room. In the bedroom you'll find a large wardrobe, a chest of drawers and an iron and ironing board. A portacot is available on request. Guests have access to a small shared garden space that includes a bench and table/chairs and a hammock in summer. There is detergent and a clothes airer if you want to do some hand washing. (There is a laundromat a short walk away and if your stay is a week or more you can use our washing machine.) Guest access You have your own private entrance to the flat via the path at the side of the main house on Argyle Street. There are usually ample (free) car spots available on the street. You're welcome to share our small garden and help yourself to the herbs and salad mix. It's always worth asking if you can check in earlier or later than the specified times as we like to be as flexible as possible. Other things to note We live directly above the flat. We do try and 'tip toe' while we have guests but you will hear our footsteps (and that of our dog, Max)/washing machine/dishwasher/ during your stay. If you are an artist or art-lover you might be interested in visiting Matt's studio, on an 8-acre block at Glaziers Bay in the Huon Valley. We also have some very basic accommodation available there in an old apple pickers' hut if you're looking for a different experience.
