Description

Stay in a fully restored 1920s Chinese-Portuguese shophouse in the heart of Bangkok’s most vibrant neighborhood: Soi Nana, Chinatown. This unique 2-story home is full of character, original details, and local soul. Surrounded by spice shops, design bars, street food, and history, it’s perfect for travelers seeking an authentic, stylish, and memorable Bangkok experience. Walk to metro, ferry, and explore the city from a truly special place. The space BaanYok Blue is a fully restored Chinese-Portuguese shophouse built in the 1920s — a piece of living history tucked into Bangkok’s most creative and culturally rich street: Soi Nana, Chinatown. These traditional buildings, brought by Chinese immigrants from the mid-19th century, were designed to blend business and home life: a shop or café on the ground floor, and private living quarters above. This house follows that structure. On the ground floor you’ll find El Chiringuito, our cozy tapas bar (open Thu–Sun). Above it, you’ll have exclusive access to two private floors and a terrace. The restoration focused on preserving the building’s original character — from the staircase to the wooden details — while making the space cozy and welcoming. Step outside and you’re in one of Bangkok’s most vibrant corners: surrounded by spice warehouses, bars, cafés, and galleries that have reimagined this historic street while honoring its roots. Soi Nana is also ideally located: — 5 minutes’ walk to Hua Lamphong MRT — Near the Chao Phraya river ferry — Walking distance to Yaowarat, Talat Noi, SongWat and even the Grand Palace via the flower market (approx. 40 mins on foot) This is not just a place to sleep — it’s a home full of stories, right at the heart of the real Bangkok. Guest access From the shophouse the residence space is the two upper floors above the tapas bar. On the first of these floors there is a living room with an armchair and a day bed. This room have fan but not air conditioning. Also on this floor there is a bathroom, with a shower and hot water. Right where the stairs to the upper floor start, you also have a fridge and a kettle. On the upper floor there are two rooms, one with a queen size bed and a continuous room with a table where you can work with your laptop. This floor has air conditioning. It also has a terrace where you can go out and see life on the street. Other things to note This is an old house with the inconveniences of the antiques but with the beauty of those. We have preserved the original architecture, the house is over 100 years old, you may not find the comforts of a hotel. But I assure you that you will feel that the house is super cozy. This is not a hotel but a private house. It has very steep stairs, which make this accommodation not suitable for the elderly or people with mobility difficulties . Around the house the neighbors are usually families who have been here all their lives. I need them to feel good about my guests. It is necessary to make a normal life in the house without noise or trouble, no parties or similar. The house is located in Chinatown which is one of the busiest neighborhoods in Bangkok. Also our street has bars and restaurants around.
