Location! Location! Location! The 'Verdie May House' is a cozy 1930's cottage located in the heart of Lewisburg's Historical District. Enjoy your morning coffee while gazing at the Old Stone Church and Carnegie Hall or stroll to the town's best restaurants, cafes and shopping. Enjoy a cool drink on the spacious porch after an adventurous day. This newly renovated cottage is the perfect place to enjoy the best of Lewisburg! This cosy 1930's cottage offers the opportunity to step back in time and immerse yourself in Lewisburg's roaring 30's (but with modern comforts!). This freshly renovated cottage has an amazing history - it was home to several local identities (including Eileen Kramer, an Australian National Treasure dancer and acclaimed local furniture maker Ozzi May and his wife, Verdie). The cottage is our favorite place for hanging out with family and friends - particularly as we can walk everywhere (and leave the car at home)! We love using the cottage as a base for exploring Lewisburg and know you will too! It's the perfect 'home away from home'! The house is small (great for 1-4 people) and has a spacious, well equipped kitchen (with new appliances), comfortable living area, study area with large desk, two comfortable bedrooms (with luxury linens) , separate laundry, a cute upstairs bathroom (with a clawfoot bathtub) and wonderful new large downstairs bathroom (featuring a shower with Bluetooth speaker connection for music and plush towels). Original artwork and crafts by local artists is found throughout the house. The large covered porch is perfect for relaxing anytime of the day (even when it rains), people watching or for outdoor dining. You will enjoy views of Old Stone Church and the cemetery (directly across the street), Carnegie Hall and other historical sites. We have beautiful and comfortable outdoor furniture, including an antique iron outdoor dining table. In summer flowers burst out around the porch. The large patio (using original stone and local river rocks custom designed by a local artisan) behind the house is a more private space - with the original outdoor fireplace available for BBQ's or making s'mores. We also have a smoker for more adventurous cooks. The large front yard is perfect for playing a friendly (or competitive!) game of Molkky or croquet (we have the games for you), The queen bed and two twin beds have brand new quality mattresses with quality linens and duvets and fluffy pillows. The towels are luxury cotton. We are particular about dust and cleanliness as our daughter has allergies. The city water is perfect drinking water. If you would like some tasty food waiting in the cottage for you on arrival or during your stay, my sister in law, Beth, has a bakery business (Fresh Flours – at the local Farmers Market). For my guests, she will take phone/email orders and deliver directly to the cottage. She does amazing quiche, granola and pies (about 20 different kinds – all fantastic!). If you are interested, search FreshFlours (she lives about 2 minutes away from the cottage) and she can email the menu. I know what it is like travelling and sometimes it is nice to have an easy (and delicious) local options waiting when you arrive (or during your visit). The Verdie May Cottage is the perfect 'home away from home' to enjoy your stay in Lewisburg! Come and enjoy! This property is non-smoking and isn't suited to anyone with mobility issues. Complimentary high speed WiFi and a smart TV. Plush towels and cotton bed linen provided Hair dryer Central heating and cooling (adjustable to stay cool or toasty warm) Large covered porch (with casual seating and a separate dining area) Large front and back lawn Generous parking (for two cars in the driveway with plenty of street parking for extra cars) Fully equipped kitchen including: coffeemaker, toaster, microwave, refrigerator and gas oven and range (all new appliances) New washer and dryer (large capacity) Walk in shower Bathtub (upstairs) and shower (downstairs) No pets are allowed (because of our daughter's allergies, unfortunately pets aren't allowed in the house). This is a private, self-serve cottage. Before you arrive, we will give you a code to the back door which gives you access to the house (giving you flexibility upon arrival) Although I don't live in Lewisburg full time, my brother and his family and my parents live locally and can assist. I also have a local manager who is available if required. The 'Verdie May House' is located along one of Lewisburg's premier streets, Court Street. Across the street is the Old Stone Church and cemetery with views to Carnegie Hall, The North House and the old Women's College. The house is a few minutes walk to the main street with parking available onsite. The house isn’t suitable for anyone with mobility challenges. There is a step between the kitchen and living areas and somewhat steep stairs to the upstairs bedrooms. If you are very tall (over 6ft), you will need to duck your head as you come down the stairs.
