Coach House Cottage Romantic Retreat for 2 (or 4)

A romantic retreat for two or a family cottage for up to four. This enchanting character two bedroom stone built cottage adjoins a C16th manor house & two other holiday cottages overlooking a courtyard & gardens. Cosy & decorated traditionally it has exposed beams & log burning stove. Private patio leads to 5 acres of secluded shared sculpture gardens & seasonal outdoor pool. Off the beaten track in rural N Devon on Cornwall border near breathtaking coast. Village pub & shops 1.5 miles. The space The rear door opens to a patio with picnic bench table and a small garden which leads into the shared 5 acre grounds of the old manor house. Wildlife can often be seen in the shared gardens, examples include: deer, hares, woodpeckers, buzzards, hawks, owls and foxes. There is a seasonal shared outdoor swimming pool (May to Sep) and sculptures exhibited by local artists in the main gardens. The gardens comprise lawned areas, woodland, shrubbery and wild patches with a lovely bluebell wood each May. Due to minimal light pollution we are one of the remaining dark sky areas so on cloudless nights the the night sky and stars can be clearly seen. Cottage kitchen is equipped with built in electric cooker and hob, microwave, dishwasher, fridge-freezer with ice tray, sink and drainer. Cutlery and crockery for four is provided as well as tea towels, washing up sponge and cloth. There is a small selection of cleaning materials under the sink. Bathroom has over bath shower, towel rail, electric wall heater, toilet and wash basin. TV with separate dvd player. Wi-fi access (not fibre so signal can vary depending on line usage and conditions). Oil-fired central heating out of main season or exceptionally cold spells. Electrical convector heaters and night storage heaters in addition to log burning stove. Logs can be purchased locally. Please note that due to the Covid-19 pandemic we have followed subsequent industry and government guidelines to reduce risk to guests. Consequently we have reduced the number of high traffic touch surfaces in the property by removing cushions, throws, some ornaments, books, magazines, guest comment books, tourism leaflets, extra blankets, games, complimentary products (bathroom and tea, coffee and biscuits). Despite reduced restrictions we continue these practices to comply with legal covid risk assessments. Guest access Cottage is self contained and self catering. Guests have access to shared parking area, 5 acres of shared grounds with sculpture gardens, bluebell wood, wildflower meadow and outdoor unsupervised solar heated pool. There is a shared guest barbecue area in the garden. There is also a small art gallery exhibition of local artwork in the Drawing Room of the old manor house. This can be visited by arrangement with the host [temporarily closed during Covid-19 Pandemic] Shared laundry room on site with £1 coin operated washing machine and tumble dryer. Shared freezer space also available here if required. Also can be used for unlocked bike storage. A communal leaflet stand has information of local places of interest and activities [temporarily unavailable due to Covid-19 restrictions].
