You're nestled between 3 wine regions, with wineries 20 minutes away. Visit local wineries, then enjoy a glass (or 2) Mortimer's on the veranda or under the vine canopy. The space Spacious master bedroom with queen-sized four-poster bed, office workspace, and split-system for heating and cooling. Second bedroom has a sumptuous queen-sized bed, heating and writing desk. Lounge has two 2-seater settees, large screen TV (with multiple streaming services provided), and an enclosed word-burning stove. Modern bathroom (with shower) and modern, well appointed kitchen. There is a second lounge (we call it the 'Cellar Door') leading into a laundry. From the Cellar Door, walk out onto our beautiful garden decking area that hugs the large tree, stepping down into the quaint covered hut ('Humpy') with seating and pot-belly stove. Mortimer's Lodge is a one-of-a-kind, boutique accommodation that brings to life its unique local and national historical connections. How could one cottage have a link to the establishment of not one, but two sadly lost wineries, a former Prime Minister of Australia, and also Ned Kelly ? Your stay will reveal all..... Guest access Located on a corner position, there are two vehicle-gated entrances and ample off-street parking for more than 2 cars. A key-box provides your keys (code will be sent via text on the morning of arrival). Wheelchair access friendly. Other things to note There are several delightful areas to sit outside and relax. Perhaps on the brick-paved patio, underneath the vine canopy, around the wine barrel. Or on the deck, under the cover of the wrap around veranda, where there are a number of different seating options depending on the time of day. The new outdoor deck area leads down to the covered hut with pot-belly stove. Bask in sunshine, or shelter in the shade. All guests get to choose a complimentary bottle of wine from a selection along with two complimentary Exclusive wine tasting vouchers, courtesy of Pfeiffer Winery & Vineyard. Daily vouchers are provided to be redeemed at Chiltern Bakery for breakfast provisions. While the cottage is period (dragged to Chiltern from Melbourne in 1895 by bullock train), it enjoys modern convenience and has SmartHome applications throughout. Ask it to play music, what the weather forecast is, or to turn many of the lights on and off.
