Ballast Lodge - Guest House
Ballast Lodge - Guest House
Description
Relax and unwind in our spacious, welcoming accommodations. Immerse yourself in nature by exploring the property, located on Shepody Bay. Refresh your mental health with some exercise, a puzzle, or a good book. Allow yourself to take a break from technology, news and social media. Enjoy the sounds of the birds, the wind blowing through the trees, and have a campfire. Please note: our property overlooks the bay, but this is NOT a swimming spot. The space The Guest House is bright, spacious and inviting. It has a full kitchen with dishwasher, microwave, small appliances, dishes and cookware. The dining room easily seats 10 adults. The living room is beautifully furnished with a comfortable couch, two arm chairs, and a piano. The sunroom looks out over the lawn with a view of the Bay. The main floor also has a two-piece bathroom. Upstairs, you’ll find two very large bedrooms with walk-in closets. Each bedroom has a luxurious queen-size bed with bamboo sheets, a plush duvet, and plenty of pillows. The main bedroom has a balcony overlooking the Bay. The upstairs bathroom includes a shower and a deep, jetted bathtub. The Guest House features a large deck facing the Bay, as well as direct access to the Gymbrary. Please note that the Guest House is not suitable for young children, as it has an open staircase. Guest access All guests have wireless internet, and access to the Gymbrary (treadmill, rowing machine, aerial yoga), the smoker BBQ and propane grill, the large front lawn (suitable for games like ladder ball, spike ball etc), the campfire pit, archery range (please bring your own equipment), wind garden, and the old road that leads to the Bay. Other things to note We do not have direct access to the beach, as our property is at the top of a cliff. However, it is just a short walk to get down. The beach is suitable for walking and enjoying the sunsets over Hopewell Rocks. It is not suitable for swimming or water sports. Our property is located in a protected wildlife area, due to the annual sandpiper migration, which happens mid-July to mid-September. For that reason, people are not allowed to be on the beach for the two hours before high tide and the two hours after. You will need to plan your beach walks accordingly. We kindly ask that you not smoke marijuana anywhere on the property (not even in your vehicle). We operate as a retreat centre, and we want to keep this as a safe space for our guests who may be recovering from addictions. Your hosts, Pat and Anita, live on site in their own house.
