The space This beautifully crafted two story home is built using large exposed local stringybark timbers, recycled and upcycled furniture and vintage pieces, creating a warm and welcoming space to relax and enjoy nature in its fullness. It is full of rustic charm and perfect imperfections. Just a short 30 minute drive from Hobart and 50 minutes from Hobart Airport, Orchards Nest is a great location to explore Southern Tasmania. It's the perfect gateway to exploring the beautiful Huon Valley, Far South Tasmania and the many wonderful wineries, cideries, boutique cafes and bakeries. The Huon River, World Heritage Tahune Airwalk, Hastings Caves and Hartz Mountain hiking trails are all within a reasonably short driving distance. Pricing is based on double occupancy use of bedroom. The second bedroom can be made available for single occupancy with a linen fee of $40 per stay above the first room. Please just let me know in your booking request. The Huon Valley is rich in apple farming history and the hosts still farm the local area. Orchards Nest was created as a getaway from the daily pressures of farm life and we hope you enjoy it as much as we did. There is plenty of car parking space and turn around space at the top of the driveway. The house and tub are set in the bush and the closest house is 70m away screened by gum-trees. PRIVATE BUSH WALK Are you up for some adventure? We have a private bush walk here at Orchards Nest. Along the trail are 9 hidden native animals (metal sculptures). See if you can find all 9! Check out the egg and bacon bushes when they are in flower, eat some bush tucker as you pass through the native cherry tree country, view huge tree stump relics from a time gone by and enjoy the peace and serenity when you arrive in the valley of moss and man-ferns.   The walk is located on the right-hand side of the hair pin bend of the driveway. It’s approximately 1km in and the same distance to walk back out. As it is a bush walk, please be alert for snakes, ants and other insects.  Other things to note Access to this beautiful home is via a steep 300m gravel driveway. It is accessible with a 2WD however if you have had no experience driving on gravel, you may find this driveway challenging. The two main obstacles are a steep section at the start of the hill and a hairpin bend to the left half way up. We do think the views, privacy and hot tub on the edge of the hill when at the top, are so worth it. Look out over the apple and cherry orchards in the valley below, watch the eagles soaring in the skies above and the mountains beyond and on clear crisp starry skies, soak the cares of the world away in the marvellous custom made stainless steel hot tub.
