(plus we now have an indoor padel ball court for you to exercise your inner Federer!!) The space This is a great place to come & stay if you like any of the following …. - Beautiful locations - Walking / Running / Cycling - Music - Great food in local restaurants - Being IN the mountains - Wild swimming - Padel ball - Outdoor activities - An escape to peace - Saunas - Dark sky viewing - Reading by a cosy fire The property is an annexe off the main house where we live. It's a cosy & spacious property consisting of a master bedroom (superking sumptuous bed) and ensuite sauna, with a spiral staircase taking you up to the main living space which has a bright contemporary feel with plenty of light and generous views across the valley. There is a log burner with access to plenty of firewood so feel free to have it on as much as you like. The space also houses an extensive collection of vinyl records which guests are invited to use and enjoy. Our Wifi is provided by fibre optic so although we are remote our connection is strong and reliable for work or entertainment. The kitchen is well stocked with all the store cupboard essentials. It's a superb location for walking / running with both the epic 16 mile Llanbedr Horseshoe & Table Mountain accessible straight from the front door & many other walks nearby. We have also recently developed a mini padel ball court in one of our barns which you are welcome to use - bats and balls (& rules) are provided and its covered so you can play in all conditions. We are lucky to be in one of the top dark sky reserves in the world and the night sky can be truly astonishing. Please feel free to ask if you are interested in the use of our telescope or bring your own! And if you’d rather stay in & get cosy there’s also a heap of board games, chess and backgammon to keep you entertained. Crickhowell is our small friendly local town with great selection of independent shops, pubs, restaurants, cafes, butchers & a great ladies clothes shop, CWCW (pronounced Cuckoo). We can chef up some delicious home cooked meals if desired. Hugo has extensive experience in the kitchen having run a vibrant pub locally, cooked in a Michelin starred restaurant and hosted wild cooking events locally. This winter the menu includes: - Chicken, wild mushroom, leak & tarragon pie - Paneer curry with ginger, peas, cream & coriander - Beef shin ragu & tagliatelle - Normandy style pork casserole We provide a comprehensive guide covering all the good local restaurants & pubs - of which there are many. There are now four top class restaurants within 30 minutes, Vine Tree (10 mins away in Crickhowell), The Walnut Tree, The Felin Fach & The Gaff. Ideas for walks, wild swimming, mountain biking and other activities, such as horse riding, enjoying the waterfalls at Talybont-on-Usk, history at the Llanthony Abbey or the new, exhilarating zip lines and adventure park in Aberdare. Some things to note: The spiral staircase connecting the bedroom to living area is quite tight & steep. A barrier (provided) is recommended if infants are staying. The ceiling in the bedroom is quite low and there is also a beam (6ft2) The second bed / den area has been designed more for children and is accessed by a sturdy ladder up to a small mezzanine floor with cosy king size mattress. There is limited mobile phone reception so its best to activate the WiFi calling option on the phone. The track to our house can be quite bumpy depending on whether the council have filled in the holes! We can do any extra laundry that you might require during your stay. Guest access We are slightly off the beaten track and are a 10 minute drive down to the local shops in Crickhowell - so a car will be required. The benefit of which is instant access to the surrounding mountains. Just be aware that the track to our house can be quite bumpy. Other things to note You will be staying on a working small holding so there will be an array of animals (in small quantities). Sheep, lambs, pigs, geese and poultry are all around and you are welcome to join in the process of feeding them - but obviously please remember to close all gates behind you. We also have a beautiful large refreshing wild swimming pond with some boats and floats that you are welcome to use should you fancy taking the plunge! In summer we erect a tipi in one of our fields - which you are welcome to use and have a BBQ by. We are generally around tending the land / livestock so there will most likely be some interaction with us the hosts (Niki & Hugo) but we keep our distance and don't bite - unlike the geese!
