Freshly renovated inside and out, the cottage is your private Maine camp. Located on an acre and a half of wooded grounds, and surrounded by forest, the cottage feels secluded, but it’s only a mile to the restaurants, shops, and waterfront attractions of bustling Boothbay Harbor. With hiking trails in the Pine Tree Preserve that adjoins the property and the Lobster Cove Meadow Preserve a five minute walk up the road, you can also explore nature and enjoy the solitude of the woods. NOTE: Due to the coronavirus, we’re taking extra care to disinfect frequently touched surfaces between reservations. Bright and airy with high ceilings, the cottage has an open concept living room, with a ceiling fan, queen sized sofa bed, Roku TV, and DVD player, and fully equipped kitchen stocked with coffee, tea, and the makings for a continental breakfast. There is a snug bedroom with a queen sized bed and a spacious bathroom with a claw foot soaking tub that has a handheld shower sprayer. Both the bedroom and bathroom have skylights, so you can enjoy a view of the stars and the trees from the tub or the bed. You can enjoy your meals at the breakfast nook in the kitchen or on the spacious screened porch. The cottage is comfortable year round thanks to brand new insulation that keeps it cool in summer and warm in winter with the assistance of a propane “wood stove.” The cottage is detached from the main house with a private entrance and parking for one or two vehicles. Guests have access to the cottage, private parking area, and 1.5 acre yard. Your hosts live in the Colonial farmhouse next door. We respect your privacy, but are available most of the day for any needs you may have. We strive to make sure that the kitchen is well equipped, but if there is a pot, utensil, appliance, spice, or herbs or vegetables from our garden that you need, just ask because we probably have it. The property is surrounded on three sides by the 160 acre Boothbay Region Land Trust Pine Tree Preserve with a network of hiking trails and a lovely pond and the Lobster Cove Meadow Preserve with even more hiking trails is a five minute walk up the road. If you want great coffee, tea, baked goods, or homemade soups, visit our neighbors at the Farm 23 bakery just a short walk from the cottage. Please ask us for restaurant recommendations or any other advice you may need about the neighborhood. Grocery shopping at Hannaford, the local movie theatre, and the Boothbay Region Health Center are .7 miles from the cottage (a two minute drive or a pleasant 15 minute walk). Downtown Boothbay Harbor’s shops, restaurants, and waterfront are approximately one mile from the cottage (a three or four minute drive or a 20 minute walk down shady, tree-lined Eastern Avenue). If I’m home, I’d also be happy to give you a ride to town if you don’t feel like driving or would like to have a designated driver for your night on the town. The kitchen is always stocked for a continental breakfast, but we’d be very happy to make you a cooked breakfast, pack you a box lunch, or make you dinner, if you don’t feel like cooking, for an additional charge.
