Our House on the Hill
Description
Located in a centuries-old building, steps from an ancient Etruscan village in the heart of Tuscany, our newly renovated apartment boasts modern conveniences and Old World charm. Come enjoy authentic Tuscany, away from the crowds. The space When we moved back to my Tuscan hometown from New York City, we wanted to restore the family property without sacrificing hot showers and mod cons. So we renovated both our family home and the apartment the same way: with respect for the past and appreciation for modern amenities. Exposed beams, gorgeous arches, dishwasher, washing machine, and strong water pressure are just some of the ways we've created a space that allows our guests to feel at home in our little village. This apartment has two bedrooms, one with a queen-size bed and one with a full-size bed, plus a comfy couch bed that sleeps two more. There is also a private outdoor area for our guests, it includes table, seating, and grill. Our location is unique in that we are very private, located at the end of a dead-street, but still only a short walk from the village, which has shopping, a restaurant, a cafe, bakeries, a small grocery store, and an amazing coffee vendor. Florence, Pisa, Lucca, Siena, and San Gimignano are all less than an hour away--and so is the beach. Even closer is the gorgeous hilltop town of Volterra and the famous hot springs of Casciana Terme (spa open year-round). Amenities such as a washing machine, dishwasher, and coffeemaker are in the apartment, off-street parking is provided. Wi-Fi is included and available in the apartment as well as some outdoor areas. We invite you to explore our private land, walk through olive groves and short trails or enjoy a glass of local wine. Our guests are welcome to roam. The apartment is located in a large building once used for agricultural purposes. It has a private entrance and is in one portion of the building, our home is in the other. Life at the top of the hill offers beautiful views of Volterra and the surrounding farmland. Watch the sun rise behind Volterra in the morning and at dusk listen to the jingling bells of the sheep trotting home over the hills. Eat a cherry off our trees or find asparagus in spring, check out the grapes and wine festival in fall; year-round you can make the short walk into town or the half-hour drive to the beach. Nearby we have restaurants, cafes, public swimming pools, more local wineries than you can shake a stick at, plus unspoiled Tuscan charm in our slightly off-the-beaten-track village. Guest access We live in a different part of the same building our apartment is located in. Our guests are free to use the entire property and we are available to help out if need be or just chat.
