This is one of two cabins located on our working quarter horse ranch nestled in the splendor of the Southern Black Hills, of South Dakota. 4 miles from Hot Springs. Modern bunkhouse with queen and bunk bed, shower, and a kitchenette with microwave, coffee maker, and small refrigerator. Working ranch with scenic pine-forested landscape and open meadows in the Southern Black Hills of South Dakota. Quiet and private but accessible to town, area public lands, and attractions. Very convenient to Black Hills National Forest, Wind Cave National Park, Angostura State Park/Lake, Custer State Park, & Wild Horse Sanctuary. Just 4 miles from town of Hot Springs with Evans Plunge & Mammoth Site. Close to SD/NE border. Remote area but rich with more hidden treasures and public land (see Guidebook with our airbnb listing). Log bunkhouse completely refurbished in 2014. All buildings, including the bunkhouse, were creatively built by your host. Working Quarter Horse ranch so you may see trainers at work during your stay. We welcome both those traveling with horses and the horseless. Guests have access to the bunkhouse, outdoor grilling area and the property for hiking and horseback riding (with your own horses). Corrals available next to bunkhouse. John will meet guests and orient them to the bunkhouse, ranch, and community. Guest privacy will be respected but if you like more interaction he has a wide variety of interests (especially cave exploration and trail riding) and happy to visit. LIghtly populated rural area. Just four miles to Hot Springs for gas, supplies, and dining out. Angostura Recreation Area, Whitney Nature Preserve, Keith Park, Cascade Falls, and Black Hills Wild Horse Sanctuary are all just down the road. Nearest commercial airport and car rentals in Rapid City, SD. Public transportation in Hot Springs is limited to a small cab service. Plenty of great photography opportunities with the ranch setting, wildflowers, and horses. Fantastic view of the night sky. We encourage you to reserve time to relax at the ranch as well as Hot Springs beautiful City Parks. Have a picnic and take a dip in the warm river at Brookside Park or Chautauqua Park. Walk or bike along the Fall River on the Freedom Trail. Numerous suggestions for mountain or road biking. We're your hub and spoke location.
