Stay in a newly renovated school

Idyllic Storvik is a small village on the far side of the Nordland coast in the middle between Saltstraumen and Svartisen. The surroundings are sea, mountains, sandy beach and fishing waters. Here you can stay in the old village school that we in the family have transformed into a modern apartment. There are several marked hiking trails in the area. They range from very easy, to more advanced trips for real "mountain goats". If you prefer to relax on the beach and enjoy nature from a distance, it is perfectly possible from the 1.5 km long sandy beach. The space The apartment is located in Storvikbukta's old village school from 1951, it was completely renovated in 2014, and has still retained the charm of an old school. The main room of the apartment was previously used alternately as a gym, handicraft room, home economics, kindergarten and English. Today there is a large living room and kitchen here. Details such as school maps, desks, and school books are still to be found in the decor. The main room is divided by a new bedroom. It is the former teacher's room that has been converted into a large hallway, with space to put both bicycles, prams and hiking equipment. The 6 sleeping places are distributed as follows: - The master bedroom has a double bed (150 cm), and space for a cot, which is set out if needed. - Bedroom 2 has a small double bed (120 cm) with room for 2. - In the living room there is a good sofa bed with room for 2, and a short daybed that can be used. - In addition, we have two extra metal beds that can be set out. Bathroom with separate toilet can be found further into the apartment. Here you can also find a washing machine and shower cabinet. And plenty of space to hang wet clothes after a long walk on the beach or in the mountains. Guest access The apartment is centrally located in Storvikbukten, with a short distance to the local shop and a public recreational area with benches and space for barbecue. The place is perfect for those who want to relax and enjoy nature. You can often see sea eagles and the midnight sun in summer. Gildeskål is the municipality in Norway that has the most wild orchids. There are several marked hiking trails in the area. The hikes range from very easy on flat ground, to more advanced hikes for real "mountain goats". If you would rather relax on the beach and enjoy nature from a distance, it is perfectly possible from the 1.5 km long sandy beach. There is parking right outside the apartment on private property. Please note that the stairs to the apartment have three steps, but everything inside the apartment is on the same level.
