A cozy double room with balcony (16M2 total) in an elegant country house; ever changing hill forest & waters views of Khao Laem national park including Khao San Nok Wua mountain; modern bathroom; comfortable, bright, clean, well equipped, peaceful & private; minutes to coffee shops, resorts, restaurants, Mon bridge & the market. Free drinks, free parking, free WI-FI & soaps; super helpful & friendly host; perfect base for couples, friends & families communing with nature & border shopping. The space Your own private room has a big comfortable double bed & bedside table and lamp; the traditional rosewood bed has pillows, bolster, blankets, extra pillows & freshly laundered, sun & air dried, bed linen; your room has both air-conditioning and a ceiling fan. Your own private bathroom has modern ceramics, shower; essentials provided include freshly laundered towels sun & air dried, soap, body wash, tissues, shampoo & conditioner; there's a basin, mirror, twin mirror lights & large double windows with insect screens, security bars and solid teak shutters; you've a rail for hanging wet towels or wet clothes. Your own private bathroom is just 4 meters from your bedroom; there is only one other bedroom on the same floor with it's own private bathroom. Your East facing private balcony has seating & a coffee table for relaxing; nearby is your wardrobe, with hangers. Your room windows have both insect screens and solid teak shutters (for sleep-in darkness) and the high balcony has a full safety grill. The atmosphere is cool & private with beautiful hill forest views over a stream or the lake (seasonal flood), perhaps with mist or cloud hiding in the hills. Security & safety features include locks on the bedroom doors, window bars, 3 pin shuttered electrical sockets with switches & a gated compound to provide you with a sense of safety. There is one electrical socket near your bed and another two in the connected private hall; a strip of 4 universal power sockets plus 2 USB ports for charging at your finger tips plus free 24 hour WI-FI. There's a small private hallway/living space where you can prepare your breakfast; your big fridge there is stocked with free bottled water & fresh milk for your stay; you'll find self-service of free coffee, tea & unlimited filtered free drinking water on the shelf stand next to your fridge. Wake up to some delightful real (not reel) bird songs or catch some awesome scents of the flowers in bloom. Make your visit more worthwhile & stay 2-3 days; enough time for your senses to re-calibrate & get in tune with nature. You can find free parking on the premises or free roadside parking in front of the house with CCTV. Villa Scenns is a unique, substantial, brick & terracotta cool country house designed & built by the current owner in 2009 in its own private gated compound. Your room, balcony, hall and bathroom size on the top floor is about 36M2, about 345ft2. Guest access You've shared access to the front garden, seating & parking area; also access to the main front door and hallway leading to your private rooms. Your bedroom, balcony, hall & bathroom are all private; both your bedroom and your own bathroom are off the small hall / living space. Your own balcony is off your bedroom. If you like to see the larger "chaos" garden please call me first to guide you for your safety; many exotic plants grow easily here including Passion fruit vines, Cashew, Lemon grass, Turmeric, Papaya, Lime, pink Guava, Kaffir lime, Cinnamon, Lemon, Sesame & much more. You don't share any space with us besides the main entrance and hall, gardens, front gates and parking area. During your stay You will be welcomed on arrival by me &/or my family; after introductions and a room guide you will have complete privacy; once a day, if we don't see you, I will usually contact you to check all is well. You can contact me (or Sea) if you have any questions at all; please feel free as I'm both the doorman & concierge; I live upstairs & I am usually available to give you guidance on anything relating to your stay; we will always offer to help you if we can. I love meeting new people so I'm happy to chat with you if you wish & if time allows; I like to learn of your local adventures. One friendly dog owns us but lives next door & won't visit your space; if you love dogs you can be introduced to her too. Your house mates, if any, are usually very few as we've only three other rooms; you may not see anyone else apart from me. We're very happy to give you face-to-face recommendations of any secret spots or local sights not yet online in the area if you wish; Sangkhla is not on the tourist trail yet & the nearest TAT tourist office is 200 km away in Kanchanaburi. We don't share any space besides the gardens, front gates, garden seating, parking area and front entrance. Other things to note Affordable laundry & mobile phone cash top-up machines 70 meters from Villa Scenns; clothes drying: you can sun dry clothes on the metal bar dryer at Villa Scenns. You can find us in Sangkhlaburi district part of Kanchanaburi province (not to be confused with Kanchanaburi town the capital of the Kanchanaburi province). Tribulations; As electricity generators and internet servers are far away through hundreds of miles of jungle, utility cuts can happen occasionally, usually not for long; voltages fluctuate & water flow can slow sometimes as in many countryside spots in Thailand. We hope you won't notice any of these but please be patient in case. Mobile phone coverage is usually constant so keeping your SIM topped up is not a bad idea in case internet is down.
