Description

Mingo Cottage is the perfect place to wind down and relax in the heart of picturesque Bewdley. Shops, pubs, restaurants and walking trails are all on the doorstep and the West Midlands Safari Park, Go Ape, several golf courses and Severn Steam Valley Railway all a short drive. More often than not you can hear the train saying hello most afternoons. Mingo Cottage is my home but when I’m away I like to welcome guests to everything Bewdley has to offer. The space The cottage is part of a Grade II listed building and is located via a secret alleyway. As you come through the garden down the steps to the front door you will find a porch area followed by a hallway leading to the downstairs double bedroom. The bedroom is equipped with a comfy double bed, chest of drawers, a TV complete with Amazon fire stick, bedside tables, reading light and a chair to watch the world go by. Wander up the stairs and you’ll find the spacious living room with the log burner fire taking pride of place. There is also Mingo’s bar which sits just beside the wall mounted flat screen TV if you fancy a cheeky one. This is also where our sofa bed for extra guests resides, the light brown leather sofa folds out to a small double bed. Carry on through the living room to the kitchen/ diner where you’ll find all the modern appliances such as an electric stove/oven, washing machine, fridge, freezer, toaster, kettle, Nutribullet and the coffee pod machine. The kitchen has a big round table with 4 chairs to enjoy your favourite meals. Heading back out to the hallway you’ll find the large second double bedroom with a chest of drawers, beds side tables and bed side lights. Located opposite the door in the hallway is a built in wardrobe where you’ll find the spare duvet and pillows for the sofa bed and extra linens and towels. At the very end of the hallway is the recently refurbished bathroom finished with a comfy bath and waterfall shower head. As you may notice, we have a rather strange name ‘Mingo’, all to do with my love of Flamingos, not exactly the bird you expect to find in Bewdley but you’ll find at least 1 in every room. My property is very old and sloping floors, creaky floorboards and steep outdoor steps are apart of its charm. Guest access There are many steps into the property which may be tricky for the lesser mobile people. We are definitely not a guest house for wheel chairs unfortunately. The parking is notoriously tricky in Bewdley and there is no parking at the property, but upon arrival you can pull up along the hedge, put your hazard lights on and unload. Then you have a couple of options, you can drive up to the of top of the hill and park for free at the top of Wyre Hill where the single yellow line stops or you can park in Dog Lane car park in the town centre, located about a 3 minute walk away, where they do hourly, 24 hour ticket - £6.90 and 48 hour ticket £9.20. Other things to note Pets: I am more than happy for you to bring up to 2 well trained dogs but I ask that they are not left unattended at any time and any mess made in the garden to be cleared up before leaving.
