Lakeside living in the Maine North Woods! This classic 1950s camp sits directly on South Twin Lake facing majestic views of Mount Katahdin. Near Millinocket ME, all amenities, + Northwoods/Waters National Monument. Boat, fish, swim off the dock or sandy bottomed cove. Best rafting+kayaking in the Northeast on nearby W.Penobscot River. (short drive to 3 nordic areas). We are booking for summer of 2024, please send inquiry of dates you would like. The property is fairly private, sitting on 2 lots and nearly 2 acres of mixed hardwoods. The camp sits directly on South Twin Lake and you feel as if you are aboard a ship as you look out from the master bedroom or great room common area directly north to see the majestic Mount Katahdin - absolutely brilliant in the morning or evening light. The camp is a 1950s traditional Maine camp and decorated to fit. The house is 1000 square feet and quite comfortable. There are three bedrooms (one with a king sized bed, one with a queen, one with bunk beds) and a loft that can easily sleep 4 kids. The great room/common area has a Jotl gas stove, TV, comfortable furniture, a kitchen table and chairs, and a kitchen with brand new stove, refrigerator and other appliances. There is a washer and drier, sink and shower in the bathroom area. Coffee, soap and other amenities are provided to ease your way into camp living. The lake has a unique mostly sandy bottom and you can walk out into the lake from "Peggy's Cove." The caretaker is very dependable and lives a few miles away. You can drive right to the property. There is also plentiful parking right next to the camp. If you bring your own boat, you can put in at a nearby public access ramp and float over to the camp from there. There is plentiful walking on trails and forest roads directly from the camp. The setting has a remote wilderness feel but you are just a few miles from all amenities. Most of the lake is surrounded by conservancy area. Sharon is the caretaker and lives locally. She will reply to your reservation and include how to contact her directly. Sharon is not only experienced with STR’s and has been doing this for over 8 years, she also owns her own. Please do not hesitate to reach out to her, she will be more than pleased to hear from you and help you the best she can. South Twin Lake is a pristine 70' deep lake with over 50 species of fish. It is on a chain of several lakes so you can boat all day long. Most of the lake is surrounded by conservation area. The immediate neighborhood features several other camps. Access to ITS snowmobile trail system in just over a mile by road, which is nice hiking in summer. Boat, swim, fish, from the camp. Our camp is on 2 acres that is wooded and it has a private feel. (Note, wooded, country, WILDLIFE, means you WILL come upon wildlife and even the possibility of a mouse getting inside) Nice walking and hiking from the camp. 20 minute drive from Millinocket which features all amenities. We have a house book that informs you about all local attractions, activities, amenities, along with other information about the area and directions about how get places. Immediate access to Maine's best hiking in Baxter SP, Northwoods and waters NM, 100 Mile Wilderness, Gulf Haggis. This is an amazing camp for relaxing and enjoying oneself and others. It also offers top-notch fishing, swimming, and boating -as well as access to seasonal hunting. In fall, there is no place better for Maine leaf looking! If you like to whitewater raft or kayak, you are in the best place for that in New England. There are also multiple places on the property where you can sit on your own to write, make art, read, or just contemplate the universe! Note: no use of fireworks allowed *please keep in mind, you are in the woods, the country, there IS wildlife and always the possibility of critters finding their way inside..ie: mice and even possibly a chipmunk. Even through we try very hard to keep them at bay, it happens* There is a trap under the sink as this seems to be the most common entry for the mice. Camp is deep into the woods. Bring bug repellent. You will come upon deer flies, mosquitoes, black flies, ticks, etc. Although cob webs, spider webs, and dust are kept up with, they are not avoidable. A spider can weave its web in just an hours time. Dust can appear within moments due to dirt road, sand, and being in the woods and on a lake. And yes, there are ducks in the lake and they like to come ashore to visit. Outside premises are under surveillance. Please see safety devises. NO cameras are inside premises.
