The Tillamook House: Ready for your next adventure
Welcome to our Tillamook house! We are a family of 8, and this is our second home. Please come stay as a friend. We hope you will love it like we do. Grab a beach chair for a beach day, put on your hiking shoes and go explore the many trails, or go catch some seafood! When you get back, we have all you need to cook a feast! Go see the famous Cheese Factory, right up the street! Or just stay in and play games, ping pong, read books, and watch movies all day. You will be so comfortable here. The space The house was built in 1920 and went through a full remodel in 2021, just after it's 100th birthday! The listing says it will accommodate 10 people, but this is entirely up to how cozy you want to be with your fellow housemates. The upstairs bunk bed room is large and can accommodate 6 sleepers (2 on each Full size bottom bunk, 1 on each Twin size top bunk) but the bunks are pushed together so you'll be in close quarters. The bottom bunks together are about 10 feet wide. We have a baby gate that fits this door. This room has a Smart TV. There is also a Cordaroy bean bag that opens up to a Full size floor bed in the "reading nook". The downstairs bedroom has a queen size memory foam bed, a bathroom with a shower and double sink, and a Smart TV. The upstairs bedroom has a queen size Beautyrest Black bed, a 4 seat table, and a Smart TV. I did not include the "Harry Potter" bedroom in the total number of rooms or beds. The door doesn't fully open, and the bed is a Twin size. It can easily accommodate a child or teen/small adult but probably isn't ideal for a larger adult. We have lots of games, puzzles, toys, kids and adult books. Feel free to use anything you'd like! If a game or puzzle piece goes missing, please set the game or puzzle aside and let me know so I can replace it. The ping pong table in the garage is ready for you to play all night, or it folds in half to put against the wall if you want the space instead! We have crab pots, clam rakes, and a big stock pot for boiling seafood. We also have a friend a quick drive away who owns a boat and crab pot rental service where he will drive the boat to the water for you all ready to go... let me know if you'd like his info! We are BOAT friendly and can accommodate most smaller to medium-sized boats. We have fresh water to wash down after your day on the water. Message me if you have questions about parking or if you'd like to bring your boat. There is a large yard, but it is currently un-fenced. We have most streaming services; Netflix, Hulu, Amazon Prime, Peacock, and Disney+. The kitchen is stocked with supplies. Anything in the pantry is there for you to use, if you'd like. We have basics and snacks. It's best to check the house before getting groceries as I have a lot of the things you might need. I try to keep it stocked up, so just let me know if you use the last of anything! Bathrooms are stocked with shampoo, conditioner, body wash, and lotion. Both bathrooms have blow dryers. The downstairs bathroom has a curling iron. Guest access The entire house, yard, and garage. Other things to note Nearby places to check out: Netarts Bay Clamming is excellent there. We have rakes and clam guns in the garage if you'd like to try! Cape Lookout The beach has a large parking lot and is incredibly beautiful. It's not usually busy. The Cape Lookout hike is out-of-this-world gorgeous but can be very muddy and there is a steep cliff on one side. The trail is wide enough to not be super scary but be warned if you have children with you! Cape Meares (20 minutes) Don't miss the Octopus Tree! It's up past the bathrooms on the trail. Oceanside On the beach in Oceanside you can park in the parking lot and walk down to the beach, if you walk towards the big cliff wall you will see a door. That door is the "Oceanside tunnel" and takes you to another very secluded beach. You'll want a flashlight for the tunnel most of the time, the one on your cell phone should suffice. Insider tip: Make sure you visit Short Beach. The parking is very limited and on the road but it's worth it. Agate hunting is excellent and the beach is so beautiful. Extra insider tip: at very low (negative) tide you can get to Lost Boy beach. Google it! Tillamook Cheese Factory The ice cream is really good! Make sure to try the Squeaky Cheese! Munson Creek Falls Very pretty waterfall, about 1/4 mile walk from the parking lot. Rockaway Beach (25 minutes) Bring peanuts for the squirrels who live in the rocks by the pirate ship playground. They love visitors with snacks! Kilchis Point Reserve is a fun walking path with informative signs leading to Tillamook Bay. Fun walk. Sunset Beach is about an hour away but it's a beautiful drive and you can drive out on the sand. Safeway is half a mile away Fred Meyer is a mile and a half Best clam chowder is at the Old Oregon Smokehouse across from the cheese factory.
