NEST into Spring in the Mountains!
Experience a unique & special space Not for everyone But PERFECT for some You'll know who you are! The Nest (Catskill Chapel) built for our charmed village by the Gerry Family 100 years ago (as in 'Gerrymandering' !) Roxbury, Bovina, Andes, Fleischmann's, Delhi, ski areas, wedding venues, hiking, shopping, biking, world class trout fishing & golf are the neighbors. PERFECT for small events too (boutique weddings, cool parties, etc.). NO check in or check out for stays >2 days! The Nest is where you and yours settle in for vacations in the worlds oldest mountains. We call it `Catskill Chapel` when its transformed into an event space for responsible & respectful guests! Aa a non-denominational event space we are 100% welcoming to everyone for any idea. As 2 gay men with bad church experiences we pridefully reclaim this space for everyone's use! With a beautiful serene side yard with views you can set up a tent and use the church as backup. The village the mountains, the reservoir, the surrounding towns all come together to make for a fantastic event or stay. Eventually guests will have access to the entire building with a "summer kitchen" in 2024 and an office dedicated workspace on lower floor. Please note the office built-out is still ongoing and will not be complete as of this writing (5/2024) The bikes are kept on the lower level as well and only locked upstairs in June July August so guest will have to bring them up and back on their own (6 steps) Please call or write in advance if you need anything. We can help with a special request! Happy to - we love the area and want you feel the same way about it. We are experienced hosts (we had a 5 star rated beach cottage on Sanibel Island, FL for 15 years) and also run a `glamping tent` site in stunning 50 ac. meadow in nearby Bovina (where we have helped 5 couples get engaged!) We live in Manhattan and have a weekend home in a historic 1790 Stagecoach Inn on a farm nearby. We barter too! Beautifully diffuse light and a space that has been restored to retain the sanctuary feeling of a spiritual building - it's on a quiet street with lovely neighbors - a true country village is only a short walk away..... You're welcome to park on the drive just on the right side of the building [so the neighbors white fence would be on your right]. You may park on the street too - however not after 11pm November 1st through March 31st. The Trailways Bus is a short walk if carless and you can easily walk to the village for anything or use our cool new bikes. This is a serene space. Many unrented Saturdays we just drop by and share our coffee together. We cant quite describe it. It's unusually, quiet & a beautifully studio like space. We have stayed in many hum-drum bed/breakfasts & run down hotels in our lives. Also many standard ABB/VRBOs -- which were nice -- but there are plenty of places with cool grays, farmhouse style, mid century & Nakashima knockoffs and black windows if you like that -- and we do on occasion - but since people often come just for short stays we went with the unusual - keeping it like it was 100 years ago. It's an experience. There are 2 [new] full-size comfortable murphy beds along the back wall - remember though chapels are open spaces & so privacy is more of a challenge. The 'Altar Boy' room is now the Bath & the 'Vestment Room1 (with trap door for the chalice) is now your (very small) but very functional kitchenette. It's not really for cooking but you can make a decent soup, sauce, breakfast lunch. All you need is on the shelves and in the cabinet behind you (both sides are all yours). We are building a chef kitchen for events downstairs and will offer rental guests access as it will be a fun place to cook together!
