Description
We're sadly selling our chapel for a new experience - but you can still experience a unique & special space for a few more fun Fall weekends! Not for everyone! BUT - PERFECT for some Read the listing You'll know who you are! The Nest was built by the Gerry Family about 100 years ago (Gerry as in 'Gerrymandering') Spend a few days in a former chapel? Weird - but fun! See our reviews VALUE-No check in/out times if book 2+ nights Coolest bargain in Cats. The space 'The Nest' is where you can settle in quickly for a vacation on the world's oldest mountains. A sweet and thoughtful building you will feel a bit transformed & transported the moment you enter. We call it 'Catskill Chapel` when its transformed into an event space for boutique events and 'The Nest' when its lodging. Now a non-denominational event space as well as short term lodging, we are 100% welcoming TO EVERYONE for any idea. And we 🌈 pridefully reclaim this space for everyone's use! With a beautiful and large serene side yard with very a great mountain view, you can chill in a hammock, play cards at the picnic table, break bread with friends, set up a tent and use the church as backup have a BBQ or a bonfire. The village, the mountains, the reservoir, the surrounding towns all come together to make for a fantastic event or stay. The building is 100 years old and solid so its peaceful and quiet inside - the English rolled glass windows afford privacy and charm and with appropriate furnishings come together to make the space warm, quiet and transformational. Guest access SOME PHOTOS ARE SHOWN WITH ALL PEWS FOR SPACE RENTAL DEMO PURPOSES ONLY - its normally set up with sofa chair and coffee table and dining table for comfort as a vacation rental get-away space. Catskill Recreation Center has a pool and gym and is about 2 miles away - as is bowling (1 mile). Both charge for daily use (and both are bargains compared to the rest of the world). Other things to note Unnecessary but interesting details - It's a serene space. Many unrented Saturdays we just drop by and share our coffee together there. It brings us great peace. We rent it because we would own it no matter what so why not share it. It's an unusually quiet peaceful studio like space. And its fun to own, rent and lend. We have stayed in many hum-drum bed/breakfasts & run down hotels in our lives & there are plenty of places with cool grays, farmhouse style, mid century & Nakashimas (real and knockoffs both appreciated) and black windows if you like all that --we even do on occasion - but we went with the unusual this time. It's an experience. There are 2 (new) FULL-size (not queen) comfortable murphy beds along the back wall (one softer/one firmer). Remember though chapels are 'open' spaces, so privacy is more limited than a house. Personally we think it's best for 1 or 2 adults, maybe with a child or a couple with a friend. Four seems cramped to us but many younger guests do it for ski weekends - we used to be those guys too so we get it. The 'Altar Boy' room is the Bath & the 'Vestment Room (with a trap door for the chalice) is a very small but functional kitchenette. Be aware both rooms ideally only fit ONE person. Kitchenette not really for cooking (there is a French Press for coffee and Toaster Oven/Air Fryer). Some pots and 2 burners. No oven. However you can make a decent soup, a sauce, breakfast and lunch. You can cook meat on the BBQ. All you may need is on the shelves and in the cabinet behind you (both sides are all yours). We are building a chef kitchen for events downstairs and will offer rental guests access as well ib 25- as it will be a fun place to cook together, but it will be awhile. Please note we do not have a television (by design) but we have games, a piano, an organ, bikes, binoculars, a bon fire pit, books and, well, you get the drift! RELAX!
