Hoeve Schuurlo 1: rural, between Bruges and Ghent

Renovated farmhouse on large estate with pond, orchard, meadows with sheep and chickens. Fire basket available, possibility to barbecue. The farm is on the owners' domain, so personal touch. Feel free to ask for tips for excursions in the area. 20 km from Bruges, 25 km from Ghent, 35 km from the sea. Train station 1 km away. Numerous cycling and hiking routes run along the domain. Option to rent sauna and fully equipped dance studio (with floating dance floor, ballet bar). The space Charming farmhouse, originally built in 1826, and completely renovated in 2021-2022. Convenient location on the outskirts of the village, in a wooded area. Cycling, mountain biking and hiking trails nearby. This is the perfect accommodation for 8 people (and possibly another baby/toddler) in a great location: rural and quiet but still close to the beautiful cities of Bruges and Ghent and also the Belgian coast (Ostend, Knokke...). Located in Sint-Maria-Aalter, a sub-municipality of Aalter. Brasserie, cafe, supermarket, bakery, butcher/caterer and pharmacy in the village (a few minutes' walk). The farm is on the owner's property, so be sure to ask for personal tips. The farmhouse has just been renovated, is very spacious and equipped with all modern comforts, a see-through stove, laundry room with washing machine/dryer, dishwasher... There is free WiFi and a smart TV that you can cast to, but also watch Netflix and Disney+ on. The kitchen has some basics such as pepper & salt and oil. We also always welcome you with a nice (and tasty) surprise :-). For the first days of the stay, kitchen towels, dish towels, dishwasher tablets, toilet paper and firelighters are available. Bed and bath linens are provided at the start of the stay. There is hand soap everywhere, and in the bathrooms, shampoo and shower & bath gel are available. Outside, you can enjoy a beautifully landscaped garden with a small pond, views of the surrounding meadows with sheep and chickens, and orchards with fruit trees. You also have a view of the greenhouse where the owner grows tomatoes. Feel free to talk to the owner about feeding the animals together or visiting the orchard and greenhouse. On the property, there is an old bakery that now serves as a sauna. Guests can use this sauna with reservation and an additional fee. In the renovated barn on the estate, a dance studio was set up, with ballet bar and floating dance floor (with Harlequin Standfast top layer). Mats and pilates equipment are also provided. There is a separate toilet room with shower and a furnished bar in the studio. The dance studio is mainly used by the owner, but guests of the farm can of course inquire about the availability of the studio to rent it for dance lessons or their own rehearsals. Guest access There is a train station just outside the village (Maria-Aalter train stop), 1 km from the farm. It is on the Coast - Bruges - Aalter - Ghent - Brussels railway line. The village of Sint-Maria-Aalter can be reached by car via the E40 highway, a 7-minute drive from the Beernem or Aalter exits. Loading and unloading of the car is possible on the driveway of the domain. Please park the car in the public parking lot at the church, 150 m from the farm. Other things to note As standard, bed linen, a set of bath linen per person and a number of kitchen towels + dish towels are provided at the start of the stay. Please note that you are staying in a house, not in a hotel. Please treat the house, which has just been renovated, with respect. Cleaning supplies are available for the guests. A thorough cleaning is done by the owner after departure. If problems arise, feel free to contact the owner; he lives on the premises. Ask about the options to rent the dance studio and/or sauna for a certain period of time during your stay. It is best to do this well in advance, to be sure of availability.
