Description
This family home has recently been passed down to our family to own, care and share (2019). See previous listing for historical reference. https://www.airbnb.com/rooms/15126293 Hill Pond Farm is a charmingly preserved colonial cape on thirty-two acres of rolling pasture with a lovely swimming pond. Hidden in the hills of undiscovered southwestern New Hampshire, a 2-hour drive from Boston and a 4-hour drive from NYC, your country retreat awaits. Enjoy hiking, swimming, antiques, skiing and more. The space Originally built in 1779, the farmhouse and barn were fully renovated in 2014 with special care taken to maintain the buildings’ charm, period details and understated beauty. The new spacious chef’s kitchen has a center island, sitting area, wood stove and modern appliances, including a six-burner Viking stove. A pair of French doors lead off this room to a beautiful stoned terrace with a large, adjustable-tray charcoal grill and views of the pond, pastures, barn and woods beyond. The pond is ready for you to cool off in its 18 foot deep waters. Lift off the pier among the brown trout to the floating dock where you can take in some swimming and sun. In the summer months, the large screened-in porch becomes the home’s heart and soul with its warm sitting and dining areas. Enjoy panoramic views of the property and its wildlife, including duck, deer, turkey, fox, hummingbirds, cedar waxwings, and regular visits from a great blue heron. During the winter, life returns indoors, to the kitchen and living room with its original wainscoting, large fireplace and span of twelve-over-twelve windows. The master bedroom is located off the living room and is secluded with a modern bathroom and private access to the porch. Upstairs there are three distinctly appointed bedrooms and a large modern bath with walk-in shower. Additionally, there is a formal dining room, mudroom and home office. Your eye will certainly travel here from home’s furnishings — an eclectic blend of contemporary, mid-century and one-off antiques — to the colorful splashes of vintage wallpaper. Other items of interests include radiant heat in the kitchen and bathroom floors, an outdoor shower, flower gardens, intricate stone work and walls, a blueberry patch on the far side of the pond, and a terraced herb and vegetable garden. The barn holds a lofted open space equipped with a vintage Brunswick pool table, a ping pong table, a custom wrought iron center chandelier and two wash closets. We held our wedding reception here and it makes a great social room. We look forward to your visit and hope you make many memories here. Guest access Guests will have full run of the house, barn and property.
