Black Birch Escape is a private off the grid get away situated 330m above sea level with the most breath taking views; overlooking a stunning vineyard below and beautiful views looking up and down the valley, on a clear day the north island is visible. Black Birch escape is a small working, family owned and operated high country farm, Running quality pure beef cattle and halfbred ewes, so you'll see plenty of animal and bird life. The space Located in the beautiful Awatere Valley, Marlborough, 20mins off state highway 1. Enjoy relaxing at the end of the day with your favourite beverage in your own personal twin outside hot tubs while you enjoy the beautiful views of the valley before getting cosy in your accommodation for the night. Black birch Escape is self-catering, facility’s are provided, with a gas outdoor BBQ with a gas hob attached, for the cooler months a diesel stove will keep you toasty and warm while allowing you to cook a delicious meal, gas fridge and tea and coffee making facilities, complementary tea and coffee supplied. Black Birch escape is equipped for you all year round, with the living dining area hosting a nice warm relaxing atmosphere. The sleeping quarters has a comfortable king size bed and a diesel heater to keep your warm in those cooler months. Your welcome to go hiking or mountain biking on farm to enjoy the breath taking views from different locations, if you would like to test your fitness by venturing from your accommodation to the top of the farm which is approx 950m above sea level. On these walks there is a chance of spotting some wild animals such as goats, deer and pigs. Please advise us of your estimated arrival time 24 hours before check in day so we can ensure we can meet you on time. If you are needing to arrive after 6pm we require at least 48 hours notice so we can make arrangements to accommodate this. PLEASE NOTE; ALL ON FARM WALKS ARE CLOSED FROM 1stTH AUGUST UNTIL 31ST OCTOBER EACH YEAR FOR LAMBING ON FARM OCCURINGS DURING THIS PERIOD. THANK YOU FOR YOUR UNDERSTANDING. Guest access The access is steep at times so please ensure your vehicle is suitable for the task. The road is a well formed rock/red metal track Access to your accommodation is through a working vineyard, we will greet you at the main gate entrance off the Awatere valley road and escort you through the vineyard to your accommodation and the farm. We are in a remote location so please bring what you require for the duration of your stay with us. The drive way to the farm is marked with arrows, these must be strictly followed at all times and only stay to the arrow marked track, adhere to the maximum speed limit of 30kph and give way to all vineyard machinery at all times Other things to note Our hut runs on solar power so please be conscious of power usage. Please also be mindful of water usage as we live in an an area that gets very dry in the summer. With being off the grid, our solar system is set up to run lights, charge cell phone's and lap tops ect but is not big enough for large drawing appliances like hair driers so pleased don't use items like this. Please ensure bean bags are bought inside over night or secured under cover outside and when you leave and that all light switches are off It is advised to bring your own bug repellent. Ensure your bring a warm top as it can get cool in the evenings and don't forget your toiletries as these are items we don't supply. We do however supply towels and facecloths HEALTH AND SAFETY Upon arrival you will be required to sign a visitors induction form, this form will notify you of the known hazards, livestock and general farm rules to adhere to while you are staying with us. SMOKING Smoking is permitted out-doors only and please use the ash trays provided, please ensure butts are fully extinguished before discarding as it gets very dry in the summer months. If out walking please ensure butts are fully extinguished before discarding them as these cause a huge fire risk.
