The Gatehouse, Durban North

Fully self-contained, safe and private apartment, boasting gorgeous garden and seaviews in Durban North. Light and airy, with French doors opening from the bedroom onto a private patio overlooking a lush valley stretching out to sea. Positioned on a shared property, the unit is ideally situated close to shops & restaurants and 10 mins from Morningside on one side, and Umhlanga on the other. The property has back-up electricity and emergency water supply in the event of area outages. The space The apartment is modern and comfortable, with an air-conditioned bedroom (queen bed) leading out onto a private patio with lovely sea views. The unit has a spacious open-plan kitchen and lounge, including a small table for meals and/or use as a work station. The bathroom boasts a large walk-in shower. For those wanting an alternative to take-out and eating out, the apartment boasts a spacious and fully functional, equipped kitchen with granite tops, gas hob (no oven) and microwave, full fridge/freezer to ensure you can prepare home cooked meals. Place an advance order through Checkers Sixty60 or Woolies Dash for delivery and we’ll happily stock the fridge ready for your arrival. There is complimentary wifi with high-speed fibre connection, wide flatscreen TV and DStv Premium. Guest access The apartment, with separate and private access, is attached to the main house and shares a front garden and main street entrance, with secure, off-street parking in the driveway, available for one car. We live and work on the property and, while we are available at any time to assist you, we respect your privacy. Other things to note The Gatehouse is ideal for couples, solo travellers and business guests. It is particularly suited to women travelling alone, as we are always on site, the property is fully secured and the road is patrolled by a private security guard 24/7. A washing machine is available for use in the apartment, along with a drying rack, iron and board. For guests staying longer than a week, we offer a once-weekly free apartment cleaning service, including linen change. We also offer a laundry and ironing service during the week, at an additional fee. Family dog: staying at the Gatehouse involves sharing a common main garden and entrance with us and our friendly miniature English bull terrier. Although your space and patio is separate and private, and our dog is not able to access the unit, you will no doubt be greeted by him in the common garden as you come and go. If dogs are not your thing, the Gatehouse may not be the ideal stay for you. Loadshedding: We encourage guests to download the Eskom se Push app and select our current area zone (confirmed at time of stay) to keep abreast of outage periods during your stay. Some lights in the unit are longlife bulbs and will remain on during loadshedding. A powerful rechargeable Magneto lantern torch is available in the unit. A UPS device keeps wifi up and running for at least four hours during any outage, and the kitchen is fitted with gas. At certain times, where appropriate, a back up generator is used. Water issues: our area/region can experience unscheduled water cuts on rare occasions. Fortunately our property has a safe, back-up water system which allows for uninterrupted water supply to the unit during any area outage.
