Description

Peace and quiet perfected! The 1802 Amos Brown House has 3 bedrooms, 2 bathrooms and can sleep up to 6 guests, as well as 2 dogs. It is located on 30 private acres on a dead end country road a short walk from the Massachusetts line in southern Vermont’s Deerfield Valley. The wide open field, endless forests, and peace and quiet are enchanting, making a perfect retreat for birdwatching, yoga, or just connecting with loved ones. The space This property comfortably accommodates 6 people in three bedrooms and 2 floors. There is a full bath on both floors. On the first floor, you’ll find a fully equipped kitchen with a dishwasher, a dining room with historic walk in fireplace, a living room with functioning gas fireplace, a bedroom with one double bed, one full bath, and plenty of games, books, and jigsaw puzzles. The second floor features two more bedrooms, each with two twin beds, and another full bath. There is a washer and dryer in the basement and a wonderously mazelike barn complete with snowshoes, ping-pong, and dartboard. This historic house, which is a testament to early farming in Vermont, was fully restored in 2004. The surrounding open fields bordered by stone walls and forest are the perfect setting to unplug from urban life and reconnect to simplicity and nature. There are clearly marked forest trails circumnavigating the property. There is also trail access to the east that will lead you to a large pond and beaver dam. The VAST trail, a winter snowmobile trail, crosses the rear of the property and is perfect for X-C skiing and snowshoeing in winter (snowshoes provided) or exploring, hiking, leisure walks in spring, summer, or fall. Guest access ou will have complete access to the whole house & barns and surrounding acreage. Check in is 4pm or later and check out is by 10 am. The week before your arrival you will receive details to get the key. Trash pick up is on Wednesdays and mowing is scheduled for Thursdays (weather permitting). Otherwise you should not be disturbed, but we are close by if you need us. Other things to note This is privacy and seclusion epitomized yet isn’t too far from some amazing food, culture, and adventure. Six miles away, the Harriman Reservoir features canoeing, boating, water skiing, swimming, fishing, and bird watching. Keep on exploring and you'll find Sadawga Lake, known for its incredible kayaking and canoeing - there's a floating island in the middle! The charming hamlet of Jacksonville is just 10 minutes away, and the restaurants of adorable Wilmington are just 20 minutes. Half an hour gets you to the world class Marlboro Music chamber music festival. Skiing and snowboarding at Mount Snow is also 30 minutes away. The charms, culture, and outdoor recreation of Western Massachusetts - from the exquisite Bridge of Flowers to the world class art at MASS MoCA to rafting and ziplining with Zoar Outdoor are nearby as well.
