Conveniently located outside the historic village of Stone Ridge, NY, in the Lyonsville, Accord area—close to High Falls, Rosendale, Woodstock, Kingston and New Paltz — yet set on 40 acres of forest, our Woods House is blissfully quiet and secluded. The space A unique, handcrafted house on 40 secluded acres in New York's scenic Hudson Valley. The Woods House is located in the heart of Ulster County, and the foothills of the Catskill mountains in the Accord/High Falls/Stone Ridge/Rosendale area. Close to New Paltz, Kingston, Woodstock and the Ashokan reservoir, the Woods House is right across the river from Rhinebeck, Hyde Park and Poughkeepsie. This unique house was built and designed as a peaceful get-away with modern comforts, using local wood & stone and an open floor plan. We have a fully stocked kitchen with new stainless steel appliances, a Bosch dishwasher, chef’s knives, high-end stainless steel cookware as well as a Kitchenaid mixer. We make sure there are spices, an assortment of teas plus locally roasted, organic, free trade coffee beans for grinding with our burr grinder. Our digitally controlled Bonavita kettle will heat your coffee or tea water to the precise temperature needed to ensure your morning coffee/tea is perfect. We have a french press, a drip coffee maker for multiple cups, single drip cones, an automatic Bonavita coffee maker as well as a DeLonghi espresso machine. We have all the accoutrements you need to prepare an outstanding meal, or to simply heat something up in the microwave. There is a front loading, HE washer, dryer set in the utility room. The upstairs mezzanine has a queen size bed and huge south facing windows. The sleeper sofa downstairs opens to a queen size bed and we have two single fold up futons, (they are the perfect size for a young child) we can bring out of storage if needed. Enjoy our newly renovated bathroom with its elegant rain shower set into an open alcove with a huge window overlooking our garden— black stone flooring, matching ceramic tiles, a glass divider and radiant heating. We have a woodstove/fireplace and in the colder months we will provide a limited amount of aged firewood. The stone patio outside has a gas grill and al fresco dining is an option on the patio in good weather or in the screened, shaded gazebo. We provide clean linens and the beds will be made upon your arrival. We have Apple TV, a DVD player with a huge collection of DVDs and hi-speed internet/wi-fi service available. It's quiet and secluded while being a short distance [5 miles] from a major road. There are views of the Catskills and seasonal views of Mohonk Mountain. Mohonk Preserve and Minnewaska State Park are a short drive away — both are well known for their excellent hiking trails. The area is known for its abundance of great restaurants, art galleries, antiquing, and hiking as well as rock climbing in the Shawangunks and many historic sites. The Belleayre and Hunter Mountain ski region is within an hour's drive. Arrowwood Brewery, Westwind Orchard and Hollengold Farm are all nearby. Skate Time Roller Skating Rink and Inness Golf Course are close-by as well. Whether you're looking for a quiet, secluded weekend away, or a private & special base from which to venture forth, the Woods House is an experience not to be missed! Guest access Our guests have full use of the house and surrounding woods. The barn and woodshed are off limits. We welcome well behaved pets for an additional $50. However, if your dog has behavior issues and/or can't be trusted, please leave them at home. Other things to note We have a strict no-smoking policy in the house, however you may smoke outside on the patio or in the gazebo. Please be considerate and use an ash tray — Never toss or put out cigarettes on the ground.
