The Oliver Inn
Located in the Old City Hall in the heart of the Historic Arts and Theatre (HART) District is Duluth’s newest Boutique Hotel, The Oliver Inn. Built in 1889, this space features 13 rooms across three floors, commemorating local historical figures and offering a vibe all their own. As a bonus for our guests, the building also houses a community cedar sauna, Wasabi Japanese restaurant, Evolve yoga studio and the Rathskeller cocktail lounge. The space PLEASE UNDERSTAND BEFORE BOOKING THIS ROOM: Because we want to be as transparent as possible, Hostel Rooms 1-4 are our most affordable rooms, because we wanted to offer an option for college kids, workers, and travelers on a budget. However, there are reasons these rooms are the most affordable option: 1. You will not have your own bathroom inside the room, it will be shared with 3 other rooms and it will be located out in the hallway around the corner. There are 2 bathrooms that are both located out in the hall. While the bathrooms are usually available, they are shared with the yoga studio down the hall (2 classes a day on average) and there's a chance that the yoga students or other guests in rooms 1-4 may be in the bathrooms. 2. If you are sensitive to restaurant smells, this room may not be enjoyable for you. This room is also located right below a sushi restaurant and our building is over 100 years old so it may not be as sound-proof and smell-proof as newer hotels. 3. Because of where these 4 rooms are located and in keeping the integrity of the building during our remodel, these are interior rooms and do not have any windows. This prime location in the heart of Duluth's bustling downtown provides you with many fantastic choices in restaurants, bars, boutiques, coffee shops, art galleries and so much more, all within walking distance. Swedetown 4 is a private hostel room oozing personality and soul, just like our guests. Using eclectic and vintage furniture and décor pieces, every piece of décor has a story to tell. Nestled on the ground level of the old city hall building, the rock walls surround you with a one-of-a-kind space featuring double queen beds, linens and towels, shared bathrooms, and a better-than-average chance of making your friends back home quite jealous. Please note, that this room does not have any windows, and the shared bathroom is just down the hall. With your stay, we provide a complimentary pint of beer at your choice of Burrito Union, The Rathskeller, or The Brewhouse. Your room is appointed with Wi-Fi, a Smart TV with cable, Netflix & Hulu, a Nespresso machine, mini fridge, microwave, clothes iron, hairdryer, private bathroom with a rain shower head, towels, shampoo, conditioner, and soap. This luxury space also features a community sauna, access to a fitness studio, Wasabi Japanese Restaurant and Sushi Bar, and one of Duluth's premier cocktail lounges, The Rathskeller. Guest access The Historic Arts and Theatre (HART) District is a walkable area with access to many shops, restaurants, and bars. If you want to venture further there is a public transportation stop across Superior St., local taxi companies, and Uber & Lyft available. Other things to note The HART parking garage is available across Superior St. for $8.00 per night or there is metered parking on Superior St. available on a first come basis.
