Located in the small village of Cares, in the Giudicarie Esteriori of Trentino, the house is part of a traditional rural building where stone, timber and craftsmanship still tell the story of everyday life in the valley. The story At the heart of these historic homes was the Era: a large covered loft beneath the roof where hay was stored, neighbours gathered and work continued on rainy days. The Era was never just a storage space. It was one of the most generous and lived-in places of the house. Today, that same space has found a new purpose. Without altering the original roof or timber structure, it has been transformed into a contemporary living space overlooking the mountains. The project Rather than recreating the past, the project chooses to continue its story. A new architectural volume, clad in dark metal and lined with natural spruce, sits lightly within the existing structure. Large windows bring light deep into the apartment while framing the surrounding landscape. The contrast between old and new is intentional: every material belongs to its own time, yet together they create a single, harmonious home. Why eranōva The name reflects this transformation. Era is the historic covered loft that inspired the project. Nōva means new. Guest access Guests have exclusive use of the entire apartment, including two bedrooms, bathroom, fully equipped kitchen, spacious living area and the covered panoramic terrace wit bbq. The apartment is accessed via the original external stone ramp, the historic Pont de l'Era, followed by steps leading to the entrance. As part of a traditional rural building, the property may not be suitable for guests with reduced mobility or families with very young children.
