Escape to this quaint and private guest cottage, nestled in a peaceful suburban neighborhood yet conveniently close to Silicon Valley corporations, Stanford, and numerous amenities. Experience the perfect blend of tranquility and accessibility with a minimum rental period of 30 days. Ideal for extended stays, this charming retreat offers a serene haven with all the comforts of home. Home provides a private entrance and safe neighborhood, walkable to downtown Los Altos and Village at San Antonio. The space Guest house boasts a full kitchen (dishwasher, full fridge, oven etc) and private bath with laundry. The guest cottage was built in 2011, but was recently updated in March 2026 with a brand new bathroom, new flooring and updated heating and AC system! Guest access Off-street parking on a quiet residential street. The guest house entrance is through the side gate to the backyard of a private residence. The rental is only for the guest house only, and does NOT include use of any other part of the property including the driveway, rear and side yards. Other things to note The guest house is suitable for a maximum of 2 residents. No smoking, drugs, loud noise or parties of any kind permitted. No visitors without prior host approval. Violation of our rules is grounds for immediate cancellation of your booking without any refunds. VERY IMPORTANT!! You will need to send a photo of your drivers license in advance, as well as the make and model of your vehicle. This is required by our renters insurance, which is a policy similar to that of inns and hotels in the area. Your ID MUST match the name on the Airbnb profile. Unfortunately, we cannot send the property access codes until we have your information so please make note of these details before booking this property. Due to poor past experiences, we have a general policy of not accepting reservations from guests with no prior Airbnb reviews from hosts. If we are willing to make an exception and you are a first time Airbnb guest, please realize this type of accommodation is VERY different from most hotel stays. We do not offer any hotel-like services, nor are we available to answer questions 24/7, as we do go to sleep fairly early or often travel to different time zones. While there is a cleaning and laundry fee, there is some upkeep which guests must be responsible for such as cleaning any used dishes and clearing your own garbage. Our detailed instructions provided before checkout must be followed. If not, housekeeping may charge guests additional fees. There is off street parking, and while it hasn’t ever been an issue in the past, it cannot be guaranteed. There is wifi and internet provided but it cannot be guaranteed, as there are sometimes outages during bad weather. There is no cable TV as decribed in the original listing - only internet streaming services which guests needs to log on through their own accounts. Please plan accordingly and remember to log out prior to departure. Please note that we only provide several days worth of basic supplies (toiletries, paper supplies, etc). If you are an extended stay guest, renting for longer than several days, we do not replenish these personal items. Do not rent this property if you are seeking hotel-style regular housekeeping service. This residence is located in a private backyard. Occasionally, you will see spiders and small insects, though the house is on a regular extermination contract. If you have a deep fear of any of these animals, we advise seeking a vacation in a different location. Host cannot be responsible for wildlife intrusion. The best way to avoid an intrusion situation is to dispose of all food trash regularly, and not leave food out on any counters or table tops. Accumulated trash may be disposed of in garbage receptacles located near the veggie beds in the yard. Also, because this is a personal residence, no animals of any kind will be permitted due to severe life-threatening allergies of family members who also reside at this property. This includes ESA and service animals, per Cal. Code Regs., tit. 2, § 12176(c) (2022). Please read all the fine print on cancellation policy. Except for extenuating circumstances (as defined by Airbnb), my cancellation policy is strict. If you select the non-refundable option which provides for additional discounts, there is no refund at all except for extenuating circumstances. In these uncertain times with global warming and pandemics, I highly suggest getting travel insurance. We expect our guests to mitigate these risks by purchasing trip insurance. We personally have been purchasing trip insurance through Insuremytrip - the cost seems to be around $40 per $1000 in coverage, but you are free to procure your own preferred vendor for trip insurance, including the trip cancellation coverage now provided by Airbnb. Our cancelation policy is clear, and we abide by those terms agreed to upon your booking. Doing this will ease both of our concerns and help you should you need to make changes to your plans for a variety of reasons. If an unexpected occurrence such as an accident or health emergency should arise, we refer all guests to their travel insurance policy for reimbursement. If you need to modify or alter, your reservation, the same cancellation policy applies, so please confirm your dates work before booking. Absolutely no changes permitted within 30 days of your reservation. We are not a “business” like a hotel, and unfortunately, we do not have the flexibility to incur last minute revenue losses. If guests tamper with, disconnect, block, or unplug equipment, including wifi, modem, exterior security cameras, locked closets or cabinets which explicitly state “owner use only”, guests will be charged $500, trip cancelled with no refunds, and will be asked to leave property for violating Airbnb community standards of respecting the host’s space.
