Description

Small Private room for 1 person on the 2nd floor of our apartment. We are an apartment within a house on Capitol Hill. We are a good fit for budget travelers and folks new to the area who enjoy shared living environments. We are open to long term guests. The space Hello! Our house is a couple blocks off broadway in the northern section of the Capitol Hill neighborhood. The room is one of five bedrooms in our house. We have a cozy kitchen, bathroom and living room with lots of light! You can do laundry downstairs ($1.50wash/dry), and hang out in our lovely living room. Our house is the tall, dark and handsome type, height / weight proportionate, with a red brick exterior (if you're into that sort of thing). Good to know we are an older home, not a hotel so the aesthetics come with the territory. We're two blocks from Broadway, with a stupid amount of cool shit and buses within walking distance. You can get to the Pike/Pine nightlife in a short 10-minute walk. Broadway has transformed from its grungy gutter-punk needles-and-heroin 90s roots. Maklemore filmed a music video here last night. Sir Mix-A-Lot wrote "My Posse's on Broadway" about it. Pearl Jam came up with their name at B&O Espresso just down the block (RIP B&O – now moved to Ballard). We also live right by the library, and we've even been there a few times. The room has a lofted queen sized bed that can accommodate one person. Best to check out the pictures to make sure it is a good fit for you! We lofted the room to make use of the space in the small room as much as possible! There is a desk, chair and built in closet in the room. The room faces west and is next to our kitchen. The room is just long wide enough to fit a queen sized bed and frame, and long enough to fit the width of a queen sized bed plus another 40 inches of open floor space. As we have multiple listings in this house as well as roommates and one bathroom we limit the overall number of guests in the house to 5 at one time. Andrew and Leah provide light cleaning in the common spaces throughout each week. Starting in November 2023 we have professional cleaners do a deep clean in the common spaces of the apartment on a seasonal basis. In August 2025 our common rooms got repainted and new flooring plus a couple other upgrades. The room in this listing also got repainted and flooring. While our house shows it age, it will always be cleaned up and ready for guests! We appreciate our house for the location and the people. Our neighborhood can be challenging to park in and only street parking is available. There is a mix of street parking (free with time restrictions, paid parking during day time hours) available. Most of the nearby street parking is limited to 2 hours at a time during day time hours. Previous guests with cars have found nearby parking garages to get a monthly pass. These can be found by searching online to find the best option for you. You'll be staying with the roommates and other airbnb guests. There are five bedrooms in the apartment and so the max number of people in the apartment at any time is five. We live in the apartment below the listing. Leah: Leah has lived in the house for over a decade. Leah is a Midwest transplant who grew up in Michigan and spent a few years in Chicago before relocating to Seattle. Living with Leah is like summer camp. Her favorite moments in life are (1) when the power goes out (camping time!), (2) summer barbecues, and (3) when everyone wants to have a dance party. She's really good at people. Leah has several part time jobs that range from working as an ABA therapy assistant (therapy for youth with Autism), staff in a young adult shelter, and Residential Advisor for High School International students in a dorm setting. Leah likes to keep busy and is often out of the house. You are most likely to see her around if you are at the house during late morning/early afternoon or get a ride from her! Andrew: Andrew has lived in the house for almost a decade. Andrew hails from Florida and has previously worked with homeless youth and young adults in Seattle area. Andrew works with International students in a dorm setting in the neighborhood. He has a place in his heart for a well crafted computer game (including story line, coding and graphics) and has a series of mods for his favorite games he has created. Andrew also likes to lift weights to stay fit and gets really pumped when he gets new personal best when doing squats. Enjoy your stay in our home! Guest access Room Check in/out times are firm. Room check in is 3pm and check out is noon. We do have the capacity to set keys out early and folks store items in our living room before their room is ready and/or store items after check out in the living room till final departure. This can be arranged during booking. During your stay Mostly via text/phone. Leah does all the guest communications. She works multiple part time jobs and is available via text/phone to answer questions during your stay. Good to know we typically do not meet our guests in person upon arrival. We aim to have a very flexible check in process that works for our guests schedule so we have set up a self check in process based on detailed instructions sent the week before arrival. We ask all guests to make sure to have these instructions accessible for reference upon arrival. Leah is available via text/airbnb messaging if any questions come up. We appreciate hearing from guests via text once they are in if all is well or if questions have come up! Other things to note This room has a lock on the bedroom door. The key will be in the room upon arrival. While we strive to have a house where there is trust established so there is no need to have valuable items locked up (we have never had an issue with this), we recognize that travelers may feel safer with locks on bedroom doors.
