Description
Welcome to my home nestled on the ridge of Mt. Beacon in a small neighborhood known as Beacon Hills. We’re just around the corner from the Fishkill Ridge Hudson Highlands trailhead. From the front window you can admire cardinals, hummingbirds, woodpeckers, black capped chickadees, white breasted nuthatches, and more. This is a lived-in home. I’m here with my two dogs and a cat. *** Please read all details below. *** The space My home is in a beautiful area on the outskirts of the city of Beacon in a neighborhood called Beacon Hills. Here you can see the mountain glow when the sun sets! We are a 5-10 minute ride into town. Common areas are shared with me, my pets, and an occasional house guest. There is a full kitchen, dining room, living room with wood stove (must be operated by me), TV, and plenty of books to read. The front porch is a relaxing place to rest and to have your morning coffee. Take a stroll through my native garden (or a guided tour by me) where you can explore a shade garden, a meadow, a woodland garden, and other habitats. Cats are welcome but must be kept in the bedroom. I’m opening to discussing dogs, but one of mine is not very friendly so your dog wouldn’t be allowed in the common areas and we will need to be extra careful. I do my best to keep the guest room animal-free in case anyone has allergies; I also have a HEPA filter. The guest room and bathroom are on the first floor. Although the bathroom is not a private bathroom attached to the guest room, I spent the evenings upstairs and don’t use the downstairs bathroom during that time. There is an additional bathroom on the second floor. Both have a bathtub and shower. The bedroom has a full size bed, tea kettle (with a tea selection), coffee maker, desk, (treadmill - not functioning right now), armchair, and a mini Bose speaker. Full fridge of your own in the kitchen for you to use. We are near the forest (Hudson highlands state park) so please keep in mind this is a home in a country setting: you’ll see some spiders and potentially other critters. I do my best to keep it clean but I just want to give you all the information up front! If there’s anything else you need while you’re here, let me know and I’ll do my best to accommodate 😊 Guest access Living room, dining room, kitchen, porches, bathrooms, yard During your stay I’m available for questions, recommendations, etc - please don’t hesitate to let me know if you prefer little interaction. I won’t take it personally! Other things to note Important information to read prior to booking: 1. I have two dogs and a cat. If you like animals, this is a great place for you. If not, I would reconsider - I prefer to be transparent. The dogs do bark, not incessantly, but probably a few times per day. I will be conscientious of your sleeping hours and other times you need quiet. 2. This room is on the first floor, close to the front door (entrance to home) so you will hear the door open and close. I typically take the dogs out for the last time at night between 9-11pm and in the morning from 8-10am (typically). I also have another listing that is on the third floor, and if that might be better, I can send that listing to you. 3. This is an energy-conscientious home. When not at home, I keep the heat at 60-62. When home, between 64-66. I often light up the wood stove on the first floor which warms up the living room, kitchen, and dining room. There is an oil-filled space heater to provide you with extra heat in your room. 4. My dogs are hound dogs and steal food very quickly. I ask that you keep all food on the counter away from the edge (Solomon is a long dog and can reach pretty far!) and watch your food at the dining table as well. For food in your room, please keep it secured in a closed drawer or plastic container. In the event that you forgot to close the door, I don’t want the dogs to raid your food. 5. Sugar-free gum is poisonous to dogs. Please keep your purse and other belongings secured. 6. Despite all the above notes, this is a warm & inviting place to live and I would be happy to host you! Thanks for reading :)
