Description

Welcome to Blue Heron Guesthouse. Surrounded by tall firs and garden spaces, accessed by 40 steps, this tranquil flat sits 30 vertical feet above street level, where it rewards you with a generous view of Puget Sound and the Olympic Mountains. Wildlife lovers might spot eagles, ospreys and hummingbirds, or the great blue heron that's been visiting the property for 10 years. The space The 400-square-foot ground floor garden guesthouse includes a living room, bedroom, bathroom and kitchenette. Its one block from La Rustica, a well-loved Italian Restaurant, and from Weatherwatch Park, one of the many inviting beaches you'll discover as you stroll or bike through the neighborhood. The living room is comfortable, full of art, with the sofa facing towards a view of the Sound. The small kitchen, has what you may need to make a nice meal. The bedroom, comfortable, clean and full of light, also has views to the Sound, and is equipped with a TV, a full closet, shelving for storage, and a strong reading lamp. This is a great location where you can feel safe and at home, while you explore West Seattle and surrounds. Guest access Garden flat, and garden at flat level, lower terrace garden. Washer dryer-blue door left of flat entry. Other things to note Welcoming Info! Hi and Welcome! Here is a little information to get you here. • Check in time 1 pm. Check out time 11 am. (I am flexible with check in if there is no guest in the Guesthouse.) • You can park along the street at the bottom of the hill. Look for two green mailboxes, the 1st Heron Sign, and a long stairs up. (40 steps exactly) When you are half way up the hill, and see a small Heron sign mounted on a dark green handrail, turn right towards the white house. It is a bit of a hike, be careful! • You will be staying in the flat, on the ground level of the house. Look for the blue door and use the last (4) digits of your phone # for the punch code then punch the lock code. Welcome! • The Wifi user is jnyman and the password is coastguardarborist • The upper deck and garden is private. The garden at the flat level and below (2 red chairs) is for guest use. Note that the edges are sandy and steep, so stay on the flat areas, to avoid slipping. • No need to take your shoes off, but it may be nicer for you if you do. Garden material and the gravel walk gets tracked in. • There are several heaters in the space. Most people like to turn the panel heaters on when its cold (push button and dial for radiant heat). These heaters work best when turned on, and left at one setting. The thumb turn dial heater in the bathroom is good for an extra boost. • The TV has amazon prime and LGTV connections. Sorry, No cable. • The big rules: No big parties, no smoking, pets upon approval, keep volume of tv & music at modest level. • Enjoy! If you like hiking, try the Pratt River Trail, Exit 34, I-90. It is beautiful, easy to get to and relatively flat, with a ton of beautiful Northwest native plants. Try Easy Street Café for fun breakfast. Hotwire makes the best coffee in Seattle. Both locations on California Street. Coleman saltwater Pool is amazing so if you are here in the Summer, do try it. • There is a list of great food places in the Guesthouse, but here are a few more: Buddha Ruksa, Gyros Heros, (great take out) Shrivilai Thai, Bakery Nouveau, Husky’s Deli, Café La Rustica, Cactus, Salty’s for good old fashion bar and seafood. • Shopping location favorites for me: The Sunday outdoor Market @ California and Alaska, Met Market (try the samples), Trader Joes, Mcpherson’s Outdoor Market on Beacon Hill. • Have Fun!
