Other things to note Winter Travel: Because our beautiful mountain valley receives significant snowfall, a 4-wheel drive (4WD) or all-wheel drive (AWD) vehicle is highly recommended during the winter months to ensure a smooth and safe journey. Groceries & Provisions: The historic town of Rico is wonderfully peaceful and remote. While there is a small local gas station for quick essentials, it does not have a full grocery store. We highly recommend stocking up on groceries before you arrive. You will find two excellent, fully equipped grocery stores just a scenic 30-minute drive away in Telluride: Clarke's Market and The Village Market. Depending on your travel route and origin, we are more than happy to recommend other convenient gourmet markets or grocery stops along your way!
