This sunny, cozy cabin sits at the foot of Mt Elbert in the heart of quaint Historic Twin Lakes Village, CO (pop. 171). Whether you partake in the outdoor adventures just steps from the front door, or prefer to relax and admire views from inside—our updated little cabin is the perfect place to enjoy the mountains! This simple space is perfect for 2 or 1. We allow ONE DOG. All of the updated comforts of home in a historic cabin structure dating from the 1880s. This Miner's cabin offers well-designed simplicity with everything to make your escape to the mountains easy. The cabin is neatly hidden from the road, with triangular windows near the cabin's roof give you unobstructed views of Mt Hope and Twin Peaks! The lower windows can also have their curtains drawn for privacy while keeping the views intact. You'll wake to the sun and mountains in the morning, and fall asleep under the stars at night. Living and Eating Areas: A comfy leather love seat atop a colorful rug sits behind a hand-made, solid Pine wooden dining set built in a traditional Swedish style by our long-time friend :) There is a flat-screen TV with Roku that can be adjusted for you to watch from almost anywhere in the space. The Kitchen: Mountain views from the sink! The kitchen is open and a good size for 2: concise and efficient. There's a gas range and oven, a new fridge, cabinet space, as well as a granite countertop and prep space (see pics!). All stainless steel pots and pans, a toaster, microwave, coffee maker, simple and functional porcelain dishes, and pretty much any utensil you'd need is there to assist you create a delicious meal. A charcoal grill is available on the patio, and you have your own utensils for grillin'. Bedroom Area: The Miner's cabin is outfitted with a queen memory foam/coil hybrid mattress. All pillows and mattress are zipped in ANTIMICROBIAL covers, then outfitted with crisp, white all-cotton pima sheets, a cozy cotton blanket and a linen quilted bedspread (so nice for bundling on a cooler summer evening). You will find a pull out trundle drawer below the bed, where you can easily store clothes and other personal belongings. Bathroom: Tons more storage space in here! In addition to a small closet, this bathroom's vanity has several large wooden drawers as well as cabinet space for your belongings. A ceramic bathtub, heavy tile, and good water pressure welcome you after a day out on the trails (or just hanging out). We provide thick Supima cotton bath towels. As confirmed in our reviews, we have always been devoted to offering an extremely clean, comfortable, easy space. The cabin is yours, as is the tiny yard in front of your cabin, an off-street parking spot, and patio with charcoal grill, too! Privacy is super important to us. We respect guests' privacy as we like ours to be respected - especially when on vacation :) we are always available via Airbnb, and we provide a lockbox so guests can retrieve/return a key easily when checking in & out. We are currently staying on the property in another cabin but we will NOT approach your cabin unless beckoned, or if it's necessary (we will always message/ask first as to not surprise you). This updated Miner's cabin is located at the foot of Mt Elbert, in the heart of historic Twin Lakes village. We love that our town is one of the few places that retains the laid back, relaxed, authentic "Western" vibe of independent Old Colorado! This space is private and quiet, set far back from our main dirt road, but not secluded. Twin Lakes is a very small town. This little cabin is one of 2 on a property in a village, the cabin's windows are staggered. You a patio that may occasionally be shared. • A trail to Mt. Elbert is just steps from our door, and the Willis Gulch trailhead is 2 miles away. • The Moache fishing site is a 6-minute walk (.25 miles), and about a mile for a boat tour. There are places to rent canoes or kayaks, equipment for fishing, buy bait, etc. • Within 2 blocks of this cabin is one of the lakes! • Also within 2 blocks: a lovely restaurant, a fun general store and gift shop, a visitor's center run by local volunteers, places to rent paddle boards and mountain bikes, an art gallery, and more! Our unincorporated village is surrounded by park land, forest, land sacred to the indigenous Ute tribe, and the tallest mountains in Colorado. Its "wild west" reputation was a hot-spot for miners, hedonists, and high society was well known up until the 1880s. Now a much more relaxed place, many vacationers visit Twin Lakes to quietly appreciate its unparalleled beauty, hike the surrounding mountains, and enjoy its delightfully unique "western" spirit that still lingers to this day. People are always surprised by the number of things to see if you feel like strolling in the sun ;D the patio outside the Miner's cabin door may be shared with 1 other person, but that cabin (and yours) both have their own separate outdoor areas, too You will need a vehicle to get to Twin Lakes— the drive is AMAZINGLY beautiful, so prepare yourself! There is no public transit at this time, so we recommend having a car in case there is a hike or place you want to explore outside of town (...or a ghost town, perhaps?) You have your own off-street parking spot. Please see "Neighborhood overview" for more local details. We supply a guide for our guests (and there are... countless things to see) but in terms of the more populated areas, Twin Lakes is: -17 miles from Independence Pass and the Continental Divide (several 14er hikes are on the way there!) -37 miles from Aspen (just over the Pass)! -22 miles from Leadville (county seat) -22 miles to Turquoise Lake -26 miles from Buena Vista -50 (highway) miles from Salida ...and just 2 hours from Denver! This is not an isolated cabin, please look up "Twin Lakes Village" for a better idea of what the tiny historic town is like. The population of 171; it's very quiet, and unincorporated so it's pretty rustic, too. Please see the uploaded images. If you are looking for total seclusion: this is not a space for you. We are in a quiet village surrounded by national forest. Please see maps. If you're looking for luxury shopping, Vale and Aspen and Breck aren't far but you won't find any designer stores in this town. We do have a couple fun, small shops that sell sundries and books, and a small art gallery run by locals. We offer high-speed WiFi that can handle multiple screen activity but it has only been a short time that this has been offered to our town. So far it has been excellent and reliable, however we cannot offer refunds if it goes down as it would be out of our control. However we are happy to help you find places that offer free, excellent WiFi close by for work, games, etc. We allow up to TWO (2) human guests, and ONE (1) dog. No other pets are allowed unless approved by hosts before guest arrival.
