We look forward to hosting you in our 110-year-old home in the lovely and diverse Washington Heights neighborhood. We welcome you and want you to feel at home with us. Our home is ideally located, just two minutes from I-94 . . . turn left to Chicago, turn right to Minneapolis. Better yet, stay right here and enjoy Milwaukee! Ten minutes east is downtown Milwaukee where most of the cultural, artistic, and sports venues are located. Not to mention great restaurants and beautiful Lake Michigan. To the south visit Miller Park, home of the Milwaukee Brewers, one of the largest stadiums in the country. (Walkable if you park a few blocks south of our house.) Just ten minutes west is the Milwaukee Regional Medical Center, comprising six health care institutions including Milwaukee Children’s Hospital, Froedtert Hospital, and the Medical College of Wisconsin. We are about an 8-minute drive to the VA Hospital. Closer to home, you will find several restaurants with a variety of cuisines. In addition to your own room, you will have access to the living room, dining room, bathroom (for all guests), front porch, back yard, and deck. You will SHARE THE KITCHEN WITH YOUR HOSTS, Elizabeth and Paco, who reside upstairs. If there are guests in either or both of the other two rooms we offer, they will also have access to the kitchen. So you may run into them or us there. Let us know of any special item you would like us to have on hand for you to prepare your breakfast. When parents bring children under eight-years-old, the only option available in our home is the ““Three Bedrooms in Washington Heights .” This policy insures that there will be no guests in other rooms who might be disturbed by the normal activity of small children. For a child older than eight, s/he must either sleep in a bed with ONE parent or have a separate room booked. Please keep in mind that ours is not a “child-proofed” house so constant supervision of little ones is required. We live upstairs and will be available to our guests, always respecting their privacy. Washington Heights in Milwaukee is a closely-knit neighborhood filled with beautiful homes built in the early 20th century. You can park on the street at no charge for three nights with free permit. For more than three nights, you will need a $20 permit, effective for four months. You will need a permit for either situation. N.B. Every other Thursday is cleaning day from 8:30 a.m. to 9:30 a.m. If you are staying through a Thursday and would find the noise of a vacuum and the hustle and bustle of housekeeping disturbing, you might prefer to book with another of the many Airbnb options in Washington Heights. Better yet, go out for breakfast to one of the great restaurants in the area during that time! :-)
