Cottage in Saugerties
Description
A sweet cottage with waterfall and creek view. There’s a creek side deck to relax and watch the creek & an outdoor shower. It’s a well equipped cozy nest to rest & read & relax all day. Set up your laptop in the dining nook and watch the birds as you work, or just unplug and nap on the couch. A great home base to come back to after to nature, hiking, skiing or just walking up to town to the bookstore for a game of chess and a cappuccino,. Whatever you choose to do, I hope you go home refreshed The space My little home is perched on a cliff 30 feet above the Esopus Creek with a great view of a large waterfall -its soothing sounds add to the ambience.. The table nook looks out on the creek and gets the morning sun - Summer or winter- it’s a great place to sit and watch ducks or an occasional heron fly by, or even a bald eagle! I’m a cook, so the kitchen, though small, is well equipped and there’s a push button espresso machine . The Creekside deck is a nice private place to hang out and enjoy the peace of the creek and see many birds, herons and eagles are there often to fish at the falls. if its a quiet day you may swim at your own risk. If it’s summer, and you have a kayak ( and a life jacket) you can carry it down the stairs to the creek and paddle out to the Saugerties Lighthouse and the Hudson River. You will see many other “yakkers”. You may even see the harbor seal, nicknamed "Soapy" that lives in the Esopus Creek. The creek is tidal so check an online tide table and plan accordingly. We have life jackets and a canoe you may use at your own risk. you must wear a life jacket! The Esopus Creek will take you to the Hudson River . When you get to the Saugerties Lighthouse please turn back.- Do NOT take the canoe into the Hudson. Strong currents and very deep depths plus large ships make it quite dangerous to small crafts and inexperienced sailors. The canoe is down on the creekside deck, paddles and life jackets are hanging on the outdoor shower on the lower porch. There are a couple of dog life jackets there too. Even dogs that love to swim can drown quickly once tired so please take care. Make sure to secure the canoe after using and please pull it up out of the water and invert it. Bring the paddles & life jackets back to their spot on the back porch. We also keep the loungers & umbrella on the lower deck folded up and secured when not in use in case of high winds & high water. Feel free to use them . . Also in the summer- the back lower porch has a private cedar outdoor shower & lounge chairs and a hammock. There’s also a gas grill on the upper kitchen porch. Please make sure to shut off the gas after you grill. Even though it’s a short walk to all the shops, bars & restaurants Saugerties has to offer, it’s got the privacy and closeness to nature of a treehouse. you may not want to leave! Guest access The entire house is accessible except for a couple of locked areas where I have my personal stuff. Feel free to use any food items on a use and replace basis. If you use something up and can’t replace it, just let me know :-) Other things to note My house has a big screen TV, a push button espresso machine, lots of great books, many classic board games, a small classic record collection and a nice turntable. Please enjoy it all, but please be gentle with my things and treat them as your own. I understand things happen, but I would appreciate if you let me know if anything breaks. Thanks! 🙏
