A sweet cottage with waterfall and creek view. It’s a well equipped cozy nest to rest & read. You can put up the hammock in the living room and just relax all day. Set up your laptop in the dining nook and watch the birds as you work, or just unplug and nap on the couch. A great home base to come back to after short trips to nature, hiking, skiing or just walking up to town to the bookstore for a game of chess and a cappuccino,. Whatever you choose to do, I hope you go home refreshed! My little home is perched on a cliff 30 feet above the Esopus Creek with a great view of a large waterfall -its soothing sounds add to the ambience.. The table nook looks out on the creek and gets the morning sun - Summer or winter- it’s a great place to sit and watch ducks or an occasional heron fly by, or even a bald eagle! I’m a cook, so the kitchen, though small, is well equipped and there’s a push button espresso machine . If it’s summer, and you have a kayak ( and a life jacket) you can carry it down the stairs to the creek and paddle out to the Saugerties Lighthouse and the Hudson River. You will see many other “yakkers”. You may even see the harbor seal, nicknamed "Soapy" that lives in the Esopus Creek Also in the summer- the back lower deck has a private cedar outdoor shower, lounge chairs and a table & chairs. There’s also a gas grill and a fire pit. Please make sure to shut off the gas after you grill. Even though it’s a short walk to all the shops, bars & restaurants Saugerties has to offer, it’s got the privacy and closeness to nature of a treehouse. The entire house is accessible except for a couple of locked areas where I have my personal stuff. Feel free to use any food items on a use and replace basis. I am totally available by texting on the Airbnb app The closest restaurants and bars are a very short walk away, just at the top of Dock St. Where it hits Partition St. (just one long block) Diamond Mills Hotel, Tavern & Restaurant is the nearest. Diamond Mills Hotel has a Tavern with happy hour specials and they have a large restaurant- not sure if it’s any good. It’s had mixed reviews. Sometimes they also have special events such as brunch. Check their website. The village is a 5-10 min walk up the hill And there are many good restaurants, shops ,bars, 2 bookstores, pizza places (Slices Pizza is excellent and they deliver), a diner, 2 bakeries, health food store (Mother Earth), a pharmacy., a hardware store, antique stores, tattoo shops, movie theatre and more. The house is about a 10 minute walk to the center of town. you can dine at the end of Dock Street at Black Eyed Susie's Upstate or Diamond Mills- the bar food isn't bad walk to the village for: basic food items like milk, eggs etc There’s a Mother Earth's Storehouse on Main St and a couple of convenience stores for beer & ice cream. There’s also a pharmacy on Market St. O'Hana, Miss Lucy's and Love Bites are all on Partition St. O & Co around the corner on Jane St has some gourmet foods & pre-made salads as well as sit down dining. There are several excellent restaurants and bars, 2 bookstores, a bakery and shops. Slices Pizza delivers and so does Tokyo Station which is near the house too. Violet's Bakery is a tiny (black owned) scratch bakery with lovely baked goods both savory & sweet. If you want to go further, to a big supermarket ( Price Chopper) or to hiking , you need to drive. Uber operates locally Stagecoach Taxi is the local cab co. There’s also UCat the local bus co which goes to Kingston and Woodstock And Adirondack Trailways bus to NYC Good places to go outside nearby The Saugerties Lighthouse - Trail open all year Falling Waters Esopus Creek Conservancy My house has a big screen TV, a push button espresso machine, lots of great books, many classic board games, a small classic record collection and a nice turntable. Please enjoy it all, but please be gentle with my things and treat them as your own. I understand things happen, but I would appreciate if you let me know if anything breaks. Thanks!
