Right in the heart of Funchal it is a great place to getaway and enjoy the city. Ideal for a couple or group or family. The space A beautiful unique but traditional villa in the heart of Funchal has been lovingly restored, enhancing the charm of the 20's with a modern luxurious twist. Boasting fantastic views of the port, city and ocean, from a quiet neighbourhood, within a 10 minute walk from the centre of town and Marina. The villa sits higher than her neighbours, over a 600m2 square plot, offers private parking, electric gates and CCTV.....Fully equipped with large outdoor dining area for 12 people. Gardens and vines... I purchased this villa in December 2015 and spent a year renovating this lovely, unique but traditional home. It was important to keep its character and charm, whilst updating it to a high modern standard. The Villa is detached and sits on a 600 square meter plot, that overlooks Santa Luzia gardens and the harbour/port. It offers uninterrupted views of the city from the front door, has a 1st floor veranda and a viewing platform over the garden below. The villa sits next door to a prominent family estate/Quinta, in a very quiet and pretty neighborhood. The house is surrounded by grape vines, trumpet vines, passion fruit vines, as well as mature flower beds with Poinsettia, Estrelicia and many typical plants, flowers and shrubs of the island. It is ideal for a large family or group as it is private but offers outstanding views over the bay of Funchal. The property has electric gates so parking is off road, secure and private. There is a small bar at the end of the drive, which offers snacks during the day as well as alcoholic refreshments. It is run by an elderly couple and closes by 9pm. There are several bus stops in the road, by the entrance of the property, with a regular service to and from Funchal, and a direct route to Monte. A bakery and small supermarket are a couple of roads down and the city centre is about a 10-15 minute walk downhill. Santa Luzia gardens is a short walk below the house, and has a cafe, children's play area and a garden area that is free to use. The nearest big supermarket is a few minutes away by car, as well as the Via Rapida. The asset of this house is the magnificent city and harbour views! It is the ideal venue to watch the fireworks during the Festival of the Atlantic in June and New Year as well as being close to the downtown Funchal. The property covers two levels, the upper level is where the main house stands, with the viewing point and out door garden and terrace, with raised beds and vines shading the garden and part of the house. The lower level consists of a small private entrance for cars and parking, a small vegetable garden and the garden flat. There is a pedestrian entrance to the side of the house via a small lane between the house and the Quinta next door. This brings you to the kitchen entrance directly from the main road. Using the drive and car park entails using stairs from the lower garden to the house. Children are welcome, there are some items available on loan such as high chair, portable cot, car seat and buggy. On your arrival, I will be at the house to meet and greet you, show you around and answer any questions you may have. If your arrival is late, I will most likely stay overnight in the garden flat (on the lower level to the house, so you have complete privacy). I live in Ponta do Sol, so you may also see me, during the week watering and tidying the garden areas (but I will arrange this with you first). I am always on the end of a phone, should you need anything and have someone more locally to call on in case of an emergency if I am not around when you need. The property is on the border of Santa Luzia and Imaculado Coracao de Maria. Both neighbourhoods are quiet residential areas that are very close to the city center. It has a vibrant feel, blending in with local life. But far enough away from the bustling motion of downtown. Shops and cafes are abundant in this area, with the close proximity of central Funchal, a very large supermarket and the Via Rapida. There are bus stops situated right outside the entrance to the drive onto the property. Downtown and the harbour is about a 10-15 minute walk downhill. Private parking on site and easy access to the Via Rapida. There are security cameras on site. These will be switched off when guests are in residence to protect their privacy. PLEASE NOTE: The Hot Tub is unavailable. Guest access Guests have the entire property at their disposal. The only exception to this is the small garden flat below the house next to the carpark. Other things to note When I am on site (in the garden apartment) this is away from the main house and garden and should not impact guests enjoyment or privacy when they are staying. Please note about the Hot Tub: (NOW UNAVAILABLE FOR USE) The tub is emptied and cleaned with each new guest arrival. It is also chlorinated for hygiene. Instructions for use along with a disclaimer will be supplied to each new guest arrival. There are conditions of use that must be agreed to before usage - to protect the safety of the user. If more than 4 people are staying at the property you may be asked for a damages deposit. The owner is at liberty to refuse usage of the hot tub if the conditions are not met by guests. There is a small charge to cover the costs of cleaning and usage as it is heated. For your safety if you decide not to use the tub, it will be locked. Registration Details 39703/AL
