Description
"Courtyard Barn in Tideswell" is a large comfortable barn conversion in the heart of the village, yet opens at the back to a decked patio & BBQ area plus 1 acre of private field - lots of green outside space to play in! With 5 bedrooms, 3 bathrooms and a large open plan kitchen/diner with a huge table that seats 14 you have plenty of flexible accommodation for your family & friends. Want to stay longer than 3 nights? We offer 5 nights (arrive Thursday, depart Tuesday) - contact us for a price. The space PREWARNING! Don't just look at the lovely photos. Read this next bit to the end if you want to understand what this place is about and how your group might fit in... (Insert Happy Face emogi) What's Quirky about this place? Loads actually! The back door from the garden is in the roof! You'll use this most of the time to get in and out, via a landing and staircase. Then everything is down, down, downstairs to the living room, kitchen, family bathroom and bedrooms. Down again to get to the master bedrooms with ensuites. But you are not underground, you are at street level, with a front door that leads to additional parking and the main Buxton Road in Tideswell. Oh, and another private patio area at the side - yet another sun trap! It is at this point you begin to see that the house is actually built into the limestone hillside. Most unusual! Located in the heart of the village, you'll be handy for the three excellent pubs in Tideswell: The Horse & Jockey, The Star and The George. All are great places to eat and drink, plus The Merchant's Yard restaurant/bistro and a cafe. The farthest you need to walk is about 8 minutes. Ladies, if you want a 'relaxed hen weekend?' Yep, we get it. We've been accommodating you gals since the year 2000. Our only rule is don't be too loud as we do have neighbours. We also welcome Lads & Dads stag weekends (often with Grandads). Same goes for you fellers: keep the noise down and we'll all be happy. We have a big field to play ball games in. FAMILY & FRIENDS GATHERINGS? Yes please! Our big bedroom layouts are perfect for kids to snuggle up with Harry Potter downstairs while the adults watch Mamma Mia upstairs. In short, we used our two decades of knowledge & experience about what we know you want from a weekend away to build the kind of event for you to have fun in. The only choice to make is ... how many nights? Most groups go for two or three, but we actually offer up to five nights (arrive Thursday, depart Tuesday) over all weekends. After the first two nights, subsequent nights are heavily discounted and difficult to show on this platform so please contact us for a quote. Book it NOW before someone else gets first dibs. Guest access Unlike most other self catering properties in the village, Courtyard Barn is unique for having a substantial amount of secure off-street parking. You will normally arrive at the rear of the house via a small private lane off the main Buxton Road in the village. Drive through the gate and you will see the private gravelled parking area with space for 5 guest cars. Stop at the pirate flag (!) and knock at the small cottage on your right (The Outback) and we will show you to the parking area and the pedestrian path to the main house nearby which has its own private entrance. Once parked up, you can use your own private front door entrance to come and go as you please. You will have exclusive use of the private enclosed space at the back as you see in the photos (table tennis/BBQ etc). The rear gate will be closed after all cars have arrived, making the entire rear area and field secure, and no vehicles visible from the road. You will of course be able to open this gate from the inside at any time. Other things to note Please bring your own bathtowels. Though we do provide 2 handtowels in each of the three bathrooms. PLEASE NOTE: We do NOT allow the hire of hot tubs. (We did have a hot tub on site for some years and it caused regular unreasonable noise for our neighbours.)
