Holy Island is a nature reserve of international importance and has a rich history. This house is available to let for a minimum of 7 days for a few weeks in the summer months only. Booking is available from March. The house is a traditional eighteenth century fisherman's cottage with a large modern extension at the back, all finished off to a high standard. There are fantastic views from the living room and all bedrooms. There is an upstairs balcony and a large sheltered mature garden. The space The front of the house is the old fisherman's cottage with traditional features such as exposed beams and feature fireplaces. Please don't attempt to light the fires - the chimneys are blocked. The back of the house is a large modern 2 story extension with large glass windows/doors to take full advantage of the view over to the harbour and castle and over the sea to the Farne Islands. The kitchen/diner is spacious and well equipped. The living room has a glass wall to take advantage of the views and sun. There are steps from the living room to the mature garden which is large, sheltered and secluded. The main bathroom is off the passage between the kitchen and living room. It has a walk in shower. Also downstairs is a single bedroom with views to the harbour. Upstairs the balcony bedroom has a balcony with even better views than the living room. It has a double bed with a comfortable yet firm futon type mattress. The balcony is a great place to sit out with panoramic views. The loft bedroom upstairs has an ensuite bathroom with bath and over the bath shower. It has oak beams and stripped floorboards and a comfortable, soft double bed. The two windows look over farmland to the north shore. Heating is via an air source heat pump so there is no need for a carbon monoxide sensor. To add to the houses eco credentials there are above average levels of insulation and triple glazed picture windows. There is parking for one car at the front door and extra on road parking at the gable end. Please park with consideration for the neighbours as there is just enough room for all 4 cottages in the square. Guest access You will have the whole house and garden to yourself for your stay. Other things to note There is a step between the kitchen and passage and steps at the back door so it is not suitable for wheelchair users.
