Vacation home in the Old Castle of Hersdorf
Description
Pure village life: Our castle (built in 1509) is located in the middle of the picturesque Schönecker Switzerland in the old and quiet center of Hersdorf. Our comfortably furnished apartment in the former barn is the ideal starting point for hikes and explorations of the Eifel - from the Volcanic Eifel with the maars to the High Fens to Luxembourg. Guests with children are as welcome as guests with pets. Current Corona info: We currently have no accommodation ban. The space The apartment is built into a former barn. It has a large living room with an attached kitchen area, a fireplace, a dining area and a living area with a sofa (can be converted into a sofa bed). A wooden staircase leads to the gallery with the sleeping area. From the entrance, however, you first enter the hallway with a wardrobe and the modern bathroom with a walk-in shower. Guest access In front of the apartment there is a loggia with seating and a partially covered barbecue area, which our guests can use by arrangement. Other things to note Hersdorf is a tiny village with about 400 inhabitants. Our castle is very quiet. In the village, there is no shopping, no bakery and unfortunately no village pub anymore. The nearest small supermarket, bakery, pubs, restaurants, etc. can be found in the village of Schönecken, about 4 km away. You can also walk there easily; there is a nice footpath right through the Schönecker Switzerland, i.e. the nature reserve. Even more restaurants, museums and, among other things, a good ice cream parlor can be found in Prüm, about 8 km from Hersdorf. As in many places in the Eifel, the mobile network is not optimal. So you don't have reception in all places in the apartment. However, you can make calls via Wi-Fi with the appropriate apps. We ask for your understanding that we charge guests with dogs an additional cleaning fee of 30 euros upon arrival.
