Description

Welcome to the cozy "Chicken Coop" at the foot of Garden of the Gods park in a quiet corner of the city near the funky downtown and great restaurants of Old Colorado City. Walk out your door into the coolest city park in the country, with miles of hiking through jaw-dropping rock formations. The rustic cottage has a pillow-top bed, kitchenette and renovated bath. Enjoy peace and quiet on the deck. An adventurer's dream place to recover after exploring Colorado's great outdoors. Permit: STR 0186 The space Why do we call it the Chicken Coop? Well, when we purchased the property there was an operating chicken coop. The stand-alone cottage is in the rear of the main home, with its own private entrance. It's fully renovated but maintains its rustic charm, with large front windows and skylights to keep it feeling bright. The cozy cottage features comfortable furniture, a reading nook and a kitchenette with toaster oven, coffee maker and hot plate. The tiled bathroom is small but very clean and nice. Outdoors is a nice deck for relaxing in the great Colorado Springs weather. Guest access There is one parking spot. The entrance is around the front of the main house and through a gate, but the cottage itself is wholly separate from the main house. Other things to note The cottage is awesome, and so is the location. We are a short stroll to the south end of the Garden of the Gods park, with miles of hiking trails, bike riding, running and even rock climbing. It's probably the premier draw of Colorado Springs. We are also just a few blocks away from Red Rocks Canyon, another jaw-dropping open space within the city, with miles of hiking trails out of sight of civilization but right on the edge of town. A longer walk or very short bike ride away (about 8 blocks) is downtown Old Colorado City, with quirky shops, great art galleries and some very fine restaurants with many cuisine choices. A longer bike ride (about 1-2 miles) is the even quirkier mountain town of Manitou Springs, gateway to the Barr Trail up Pikes Peak and the infamous Incline, a mile of stairs straight up a mountainside. Also within a couple blocks are conveniences such as Safeway, Walgreens and Starbucks. It's truly a fantastic location for a low-key getaway.
